Cheers Dennis.

Aye up Chris, I aye eard no Tram driver spakin Manx, (and they car drive an oss, I aye kiddin, the scrap men in Tipton am better on the rheins than most o them)!!

Last one I rode on the “driver”, was a Liverpool bloke, (and he should have stayed there)! He never wished me, “Fait Erriu”, think he was more concerned about the size of his horses “nappy”. …For goodness sake.

What is going on at Jurby? They all seem to be falling out at the Transport Museum, (again).

No Bollinger tonight, early trip down to Gloucester, (a far more civilised way to fly than Brum)! Even if its a Dornier, with German crew, ironic is it not, German airline, German plane, flying out of the old Gloucester aircraft factory!!! Cheerio for now.

If I get airborne form Walney areodrome in the morning in my Hurricane, you’ll be easy pickings “Saviem” I’ll soon have the Hun crew and their “Vichy” French passengers paddling their rubber canoe back toward Millom, and captivity, with just a couple of “burps” from the 4x .303 MG’s on my Hurrican !! Dennis.

Dennis, last couple of times I`ve flown with this outfit they seem to be using a big Sat Nav, to guide them!! Hope that they have got the HGV version, with the low bridges marked on it!!

Mind you they do have a crew of two “Teutonic” blonde young ladies,…always worry me, as they draw the curtain, and you cannot see what is going on!!! Hope they are not sorting out their handbags!! Cheerio for now.

I take it you are flying Manx2.com Saviem, they don’t usually bother drawing the curtains, interesting when landing at Ronaldsway in low cloud/fog/gales etc,as you can see everything going on on the flight deck.
They know when to put the brakes on as every bugger in the back shouts “fu**ing hell”.

Lets keep the thread “on track”,this shot is circa June '77,a K.Fell F88 hanging over the M6 overbridge at The Tickled Trout ,Salmesbury,Preston.

Hi Dennis, was this TEC 571R as i remember my father(Donnald) having a similar incident to this,or was it in the Seddon TJM 40N ? can’t remember as i was little at the time,or did he get the volvo after it had been re-furbed,i remember its name was “shude hill” cheers Dave(that little boy/sod who would appeer at the yard with his dad on saturday mornings, after tipping at “k’s”)

I had a catwalk tank on mine. As long as you were carefull ascending steep ramps it didn’t do any damage. When about half of the main tank had been used, a short piece of plastic pipe was connected between a gate valve on the c/w tank and the filler of the main tank. After breakfast I had to remember to remove the plastic pipe & turn off the gate valve before continuing on my way.
After losing the contents of the catwalk tank to an unknown scallywag when parked overnight, I had to fashion a bracket to which I could fit a padlock. Not before my “spiv” boss and his wife gave me the third-degree, accusing me of flogging the fuel. Almost came to blows over that- I was confident of hammering the boss but his wife was a different matter!

Now then “Chappy” you little scrote !! Well you were once eh!,the accident your Dad had in the Seddon was before we took over at K.Fell’s,IIRC he got a rope tangled around the Prop and he took out 200yds of Armco barrier on the central reservation of the M1 at Northampton,by all accounts he had a “trade plater” in the passenger seat who bailed out as soon as the artic came to rest, last seen running up the hard shoulder with his plates under his arm and ■■■■ trickling out of his trouser bottoms !!! Cheers Dennis.

Evening all, not strictly F88, but any of you Gentlemen remember Glyn Swains, (Swains of Stretton), F86 6wheeler, that , via Mr Primrose, then became an 8wheeler, and then had a cab swop and became an F88 cab 8wheeler . Quite a looker she was! Wonder what became of her?

Then, thinking back, my pal Rob Owens at Hartshornes, (ever the “wind up Brummie”), faked, with the aid of some work on the old black and white photo stat machine, a very convincing FB88 8x2 spec sheet. This was then strategically positioned on his desk, to catch the eye of any visiting clients.

One of whom, who was an enthusiastic FB86 user picked it up, and when Rob quickly took it from him, saying, “that is secret, no one should see” became quite excited, stating that he would leave a deposit there and then as he must have one!!!..Truly the Devil makes work for idle hands!

Hey Chris, have you taken your good lady to the French market on Strand Street, in Douglas? Felt quite at home yesterday walking through it, lovely day,the ■■■■■■■■ Hills looked close enough to touch. Cheerio for now.

Only just caught up with this thread, mon brave. Cheltenham & Gloucester Municipal Airport at Staverton was once the domain of Dowty Rotol. Rotol were the company which developed and manufactured the adjustable pitch airscrew which made such a difference to the Spitfires & Hurricanes in the last unpleasantness mit der faderland. Although Staverton was used by Gloster Aircraft Co.(also by de Haviland) the Gloster factory was situated at Brockworth, a few miles away, now turned into the Gloucester Trading Estate.
In my day, Ray Darby was flying ex-forces Douglas DC3s to Jersey from Staverton and there were at one time great plans to develop the airport which came to nothing.
If you find yourself with time to spare on one of your jaunts you will find that Staverton is host to a very friendly flying school and a rather interesting aero museum.
Back to the Chateau Erdington. Bon nuit.
