Volvo F10,F12,F16

 Can anybody remember the split screen F10s and 12s that run about in Portugal? Has anyone got any pics or info about them?

Gazzer, Got the article we were on about, but it has not copied very well at all. You might be able to download and enlarge etc, but any way, here’s the first globetrotter, yours on the UK roads

That bottom pic looks mucho like St Avold cleaning where drivers got free dinner

Much obliged swayze1. I remember it being in the Echo but I dont think I saved a copy. Good work by the Echo archives man.

I have several photos here of how the ex Amstrong wagon GRV 464 X ended up (as I showed Fergie last year ) ,when I work out how to get them from print to internet ,I will post them.

Hi Kerbut, how you doing, I thought you’d disappeared off the planet, as haven’t heard from you for ages. Are you still in France ?

If you can’t post the pic’s, send then to me via e-mail, I’ll put them on for you .

   Does anybody remember these old trucks running around in Portugal? I never saw them anywhere else in Europe and always wondered why they made these for what seemed like only one country. Any explanations■■?

Cant find any better pictures, found these trolling the net looking for them, the top of the door looks to be very square, but the door handle looks to be Volvo, anyone got any other pictures of these things? maybe a side on shot?

Pre EU membership due to customs import restrictions, vehicles were assembled locally in Portugal. Two pieces of flat glass were cheaper than a one piece screen.

 I may well be wrong, and will most likely be proved wrong, but to me the full structure of the cab from the grill up looks to be different. the roof looks different to the series 1 of Robert Armstrongs earlier in the thread aswell. I would of thought that the window apperture of a standard cab, due to its shape would not take 2 flat panes of glass. The standard F10/12 had a window screen that had a slight curve through its total width, tightening slightly at either end. Also the wiper linkage would be totaly different as it only has 2 wipers set at different position to a standard 3 wiper set up, I dont think it could have an F89 linkage and wiper motor cos of the header tank, think it went behind it on a F10. Just seemed strange cos cab pannel pressings are expensive and normaly a manufacturer uses whats already available.

Heres another strange F10, Dutch fire brigade 4X4. Dont belive its a Terberg, its a factory 4X4 and extended cab.

Hopefully these have come out
Further to Fergie47 ,s photos of GRV 464 X in its heyday as an Armstrong tanker (12th photo on this page ) ,this how it ended its days.

Just a thought but could they have been originally made for the Brazilian market, exported out to there then after being worked for a few years imported into Portugal from Brazil??

They share a common language and apparently there are Brazilian drivers driving Portugese trucks around Europe at this time!!..probabaly for a brazilian wage!!

Wheres toby■■??......Hell know!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

You are correct, I always thought it was Dutch, maybe the two A’s together. Anyway Braan is in Norway and redningsvesen is emergency care in Norwegen. (the power of google is amazing)
