I’m a spotter and have never heard of them, Centurions are 2 a penny tho!!! Especially fakes!!!
I’ve been a Volvo annorak for many years and have seen various early year F16’s advertised for sale as such, however, my understanding is that the Ambasador was only a late year model. (ie 93/94) I could well be wrong though!!!
A good mate of mine has one and the only difference I’ve spotted to a ‘Business Class’ spec F series (& I’ve had one of them) is the instrument panel in the centre section of the dash. In the normal F16 (as in the F10 & F12) this ‘pod’ contains (up to) 6 circular instruments under a perspex cover, on the Ambassador it has the same panel as the early FH12 ‘Prestige’ trim level trucks, with selectable LCD ‘value guages’ which you can choose between with a button at the bottom.
I don’t doubt that there could be some other subtle differences but the above is a definate!!!

i’m sure the handful of F12 lowride units on L plates which we had at Murfitts had that feature - I have slept since then though
I borrowed this piccie off the Crack on to Macon thread. She was one hell of a motor, driven by Barry Cleaver or more usually known
as the Mayor of Canvey Island. I don’t know how many Ambassaders Volvo produced though! Unitruc also owned the Monte Carlo, she was blue with the same stripes as the Ambassader, on a J plate i think!!

Spud 1960 - love that F10 line up of Bulk storage transport, where were they based ?
Bluemikehill - interesting about the F12, i bet i didn’t start out as a tag’ ?
Steptoe - I agree about D.A. Fawcetts livery, definately up there with the best, are they still going, hope so !
Bulk Storage was based at Paull just outside Hull and worked virtually exclusively for BP Chemicals, they were taken over by Hoyer in 1988 and for the record they are actually F12s not F10s and the eagle eyed will have noticed that the furthest truck is actually an Iveco 170:NT30
This is the best truck i ever had and it was my best time in trucking so far
This was taking just before the Turkmenistan border
This old girl took me to Russia, Kazak, Turmen, Uzbek, Georgia, Azarbajan and many more countries and hardly put a foot wrong. After driving a brand new Iveco this was a breath of fresh air

Colin, your F16 was that an old MFP motor?
Could well have been. I think someone said before where it came from. I know frank bought it at a good price and i think it had been a repo motor. The only problem we had at least once every six months was the voltage regulator on the alternator had to be replaced , other than that it was a very good truck for me to drive
A flying machine F12 385…until the gearbox gave out, useless SR70 boxes.
The Dogs Doo Dahs, Numero Uno!
Last one I bought, only one foto i have of it and ironically i took it only 45 km from where i live now.
Does anyone know of its whereabouts? I think Gilders may have had a hand in its resale.
Nice pics Gazzer mate, hope you had a good summer and all is well back in Spain.
I took this one earlier this year in Spain, can you pick the location Gazzer?
