Derven:
Heres my F10, drove it in the early 80s around western europe.
I took this pic in germany.
It is by far the favourite of all the trucks i`ve driven because the ride was so good and the bed very comfortable.
Derven…what was the tie up between Inter City Trucks and Richard Ford, I drove one of his F10’s with Bickenhill Inter City on the headboard.?
Dieseldogsix…From what I can remember there was a tie up initially between Inter City and Ware Transport. Not sure what the tie was between Ware and Richard Ford but we all seemed to work adjacent to each other. Ware seemed to act as Inter Citys Birmingham Depot for groupage etc, also involved was a French Company, Beauvais Transit, who had been associated with Inter City since there beginings with the Airfrieght Group. Probably I`ve confused matters even more now!
HI Derven,More Intercity pics please! you must know Ernie Lind and his sone David (bubble to everyone else). That truck was ernies from new i have some pics of it in the old livery(can’t post on here as my photo bucket is knackered)i will pm them if you want me to? cheers Paul
Gary Harvey’s immaculate F16…flawless is the only way to describe it…Of all the trucks I’ve driven,I still think the last of the F series are still the nicest trucks to drive…I even prefer them to the FH’s…Volvo really got it right with the diving position and the ergonomics…and the power delivery of the F12 drivng through the 12 speed 'box was superb…I found the last of the F12’s could run rings around the 420 FH’s…although the FH was a vast improvement on fuel economy!
Have to agree Riverstick ,
With your comments on the driving position/ergonomics , never have took to the FH myself with it’s raked windscreen & the step arrangement makes climbing up into the cab hard work if your doing it several times a day The old F10/12/16 models had a more ‘solid’ feel to them in my opinion .
