Volvo F10,F12,F16

Jelliot:
It isn’t exactly a Volvo is it. Looks a bit more like one of them Kenworth back breakers. Is that the Burry St Edmonds Sugar beat factory in the background.

Thank you so much Harry. You have made me one happy chap!

I had completely forgotten about the Kenworth, but I do now remember seeing it as well. Seeing the photo of the F12 Globetrotter bring’s back some happy memories of it roaring through my village.
I had a feeling that it was a 6x4 chassis, but just couldn’t remember what colour it was. Now I can get cracking on building a 1/24 scale model of the beast!

Cheers,

Charlie

That I would like to see there is a topic about models on here viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34665

Hi Charlie, really glad you signed up on here it’s great!

I knew you would get sorted out regarding the info you needed!
Really glad for you.

It looks like quite a beast that globie! similar bumper to the one I made on my Dutch f12 too!

If you do decide to make a model of it, I hope you do: I will send you a template if you like
of my front bumper. The one on the picture on mr bumble looks a little different but they are very similar.

Thanks for your kind words too charlie, very good of you.

Happy to help, cheers harryvr6

Hi Harryvr6,

I’m very grateful to you for pointing me in this direction.

I am very happy to now have a photo of Mr Bumble to work from.

The bumper does look very similar to the one on your Dutch F12. A template of your’s would be very kind, thank you.

I shall get cracking on a model of Mr Bumble as soon as I can. I can’t wait to get started!

Cheers,

Charlie

My bill is in the post. :sunglasses:

I am not sure how to post this it is not quite my flickr site i am trying to post a picture of Mr bumbles volvo For Charlie1975

Hi Rod,

Thank you for posting the picture of Mr Bumble up for me to see. It’s very much appreciated, and it’s interesting to compare it with the previous picture.
There are a number of difference’s, such as the bumpers, the colour scheme, and the lack of the stone guard for the windscreen. I was trying to work out which is the earlier of the two photo’s.
Thank you once again!

Cheers

Charlie

Hi Charlie, no problem I’ll knock up a template of the bumper for you.

I tried to pm you last night as I had spotted a revell volvo f12 kit on sale which has the correct axle layout as the build you are planning 6x4, the only prob I suppose is that it was 1.25 scale. I had some trouble with the iPad and then I must’ve nodded off!

On my build I have also made some headlight and lower grill surrounds. I tried and tried to paint the ones which form part of the bumper assembly in the kit but it was near impossible to get the outer lower grill in blue and the inner lower grill white! The space is so tight I gave up in the end! So I made some surrounds which will allow me to paint them up correctly and then simply glue over the existing kit items.
I’ll send you some of these templates too if you like, I’m not sure if your build requires them but it’s worth having maybe?

I still haven’t done much on my volvo this weekend, but I’ll post up another mock up picture soon of what I have done!

Cheers, harryvr6

How’s your build going harry

Hi Irish lorries, how’s it going?

I’ve just applied a very thin coat of gloss red to the sun visor, having previously painted the brackets in chrome too. I want to get the visor to be a nice red colour yet to remain transparent too. I’ve just seen one done on an iveco on truckmodel world using glass paint, I never thought of that, I’m just using what I have to hand at the moment.

I’ll get some pics up soon of the slow progress!

Cheers, harryvr6 (stew).

Hi iain,

The trucks look fantastic, well done for all the hard graft that it took to make them shine again. A flat top F10 would complete the line up -

Wingnut’s name is Allen mate, the Iain’s Pride writing was put on for it’s first road run as a mark of respect for the previous owner who died in a car accident while out collecting parts for the Truck

Hi dazcapri,

Thanks for the correction. I assumed that Iain’s name on the bumper was the current owner. My Apologies to Allen and to Iain (R I P).

Not to worry mate Allen expected it to cause confusion and won’t have took any offence. We took them to Thirsk truck show at the weekend and ended up parked next to a flat top F10 the 3 together did look good but Allen’s nephew really wants a FL10,so I think if there is another one it’ll be an FL

Hi charlie i have known Mr Bumble real name Graham Griggs since he was a trailer boy at Anglia Heavy Haulage i have been in touch with him on facebook about your post and he would like to get in touch with you about his F12 you can email him on mrbumble@tiscali.co.uk or phone him on his mobile on 07860 42300 i am pretty sure you will get all the information you need from him regards rod smith

Hi Rod,
I am totally amazed! I can’t thank you enough for your help with this. It’s very kind of you. I will drop Graham an email.
A week ago I had nothing but a childhood memory of this truck, I couldn’t even remember what colour it was. Now with the help of your good self, Harry, and Harryvr6, I have a couple of pictures for reference and you have put me in touch with the man himself, Mr Bumble.
I am grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Many thanks,

Charlie

Good to hear you got what your looking for

Hi Charlie that’s brilliant news I’m chuffed for you mate. That’s trucknet for you! Trouble is you are going to be busy now aren’t you!

Thank you Harryvr6, I can’t believe the power of this forum!
Your right, I am going to be very busy now! I need to get one of projects finished before I crack on with this one. The DAF may take a back seat for a bit, while I crack on with this one.

Cheers,

Charlie
