Hi Charlie that’s brilliant news I’m chuffed for you mate. That’s trucknet for you! Trouble is you are going to be busy now aren’t you!

Cheers, harryvr6

Thank you Harryvr6, I can’t believe the power of this forum!
Your right, I am going to be very busy now! I need to get one of projects finished before I crack on with this one. The DAF may take a back seat for a bit, while I crack on with this one.

Cheers,

Charlie

Are you making a xf105

Hi Irish lorries,

Yeah I’m very slowly building a DAF XF 105, which I’m converting to a 6x2 twin steer, which is causing me a slight headache, but I’m getting their. Just never seem to find enough time over the last couple of weeks to do anything.I’m also nearing the end of a build of a Mercedes 1853.

Cheers

To be honest this is the first DAF XF I’ve built. If you are going to build it as to the instructions and keep it as a 4x2 chassis it is probably a relatively simple kit compared with many other truck kits, as the basic chassis is mostly a one piece moulding and there is no engine detail. This was a bit of a disappointment to me, but the rest of the kit looks pretty good.
I only make things hard for myself by adding extra axel’s and adding additional accessories to personalise my trucks.
Is this DAF Space Cab your first build, or have you done others before?

First kit I have been giving alot of helpful tips by people on here and they all say daf’s are the best kits for a first timer yes I’m going to keep it a 4x2 didn’t know there was no engine in the kits is there anywhere I could get one

I would agree the DAF probably is the best kit to start with due to it’s simplicity. The Volvo’s go together pretty well too. Scania’s are nicer but can be a little tricky, but once you’ve built a few model trucks it shouldn’t prove to much of a problem.
With regards to an engine for the DAF, I don’t know of anyone who does an engine for it. It would be a case of scratch building one, which is way beyond my talant’s. I’m not sure weather there is room under the cab for it. Once I’ve built mine I will be in a better place to comment.
If you look at the chassis in your kit you will see that the bottom of the engine is cast into it, but it doesn’t look great. All the other Italieri kit’s that I have built, have had an engine to build and then fit into the chassis, which I prefer.

That’s a bit annoying but it will have to do good luck with your f12

Hi all!

These F-Volvos belong to my mates.
The yellow one has just been restored during the last seven months.
Both will come to gaydon this year.

Loving those two F series, they both look very smart! I especially like the yellow F10.

Help needed, looking to contact the owner of Volvo F10 L902 SBG its was white with two red stripes, now blue red chassis. last seen down warwick area. contact name and nimber would be great thanks

I must admit these 2 old volvos look like the dogs danglies!. (I wonder why there is no wiper arms on the headlights) Fantastic restorations though and a credit to both owners. I would happily swap the scania I drive for either of them. Mk1 and Mk2 versions always looked very smart in my opinion. The Mk3 version did not really look the part for me - (too much like the FL10).

Hi iain,

The trucks look fantastic, well done for all the hard graft that it took to make them shine again. A flat top F10 would complete the line up -

Wingnut’s name is Allen mate, the Iain’s Pride writing was put on for it’s first road run as a mark of respect for the previous owner who died in a car accident while out collecting parts for the Truck

Hi dazcapri,

Thanks for the correction. I assumed that Iain’s name on the bumper was the current owner. My Apologies to Allen and to Iain (R I P).

Not to worry mate Allen expected it to cause confusion and won’t have took any offence. We took them to Thirsk truck show at the weekend and ended up parked next to a flat top F10 the 3 together did look good but Allen’s nephew really wants a FL10,so I think if there is another one it’ll be an FL

Hi Dazcapri,

Thanks for that mate, Great to know that the F10’s are being shown around the local truck shows. There are still quite a few FL10’s around, so a decent one should be available. Do you know if Ian Thompsons F12 Globetrotter will be shown at the various truck events next time around ?.

Thanks
Phil
