I posted about this subject on the computer section last night and have had no response so far (does no-one look at that forum?) so I will try on here. A friend has just signed up for 18 months with one of these and I set it up for him yesterday. It seems VERY slow to refresh. What do others think of these?
I’ve been using mine for a few weeks now, its a bit slow every now and again but most of the time its great, never really had a problem with it and there’s always a good signal.
Had mine now about 2 months, can’t fault it, certain areas are slow but like tonight its as quick as home connection.
im using one on 3 network and have not failed to get connected anywhere in the country , and it seems quite fast. im impressed for £10 per month ,good value
I am using the 3 mobile modem and because I already have a 3 mobile phone I get mine for £5 a month what a bargain its great…

they will work over there, but on watchdog the other week somebody was sent a bill for over £9000 so dont use it,
I too read in the press of a woman who bought a mobile internet thingy for her son, when they went on holiday he took it with him. Anyway she got a rather large bill (£3000) and the company eventualy wrote it off after many arguments, they did however warn people to read the small print…and my advice is…Dont take it abroad…
I use T mobile on pay as you go, blooming brilliant all rounder
Get an extension usb cable and hang it out the window for better signal and connection speeds

I can understand why it hates Hirwaun !!!
Sat on Chester MSA posting this using Vodafone PAYG connected at 7.2mpbs, £10 for 1gig usage per month.
Not been using it that long, but it’s fine for the couple of nights out a week I do.
Like many of the above i have the vodabone modem and its really good. Even in normal dial up mode its quite quick (compared to dial up ten years ago!). Beats sitting in the cab baord s***less.
I’ve just got the T-mobile USB stick. They allow up to 14 days for you to check that the connection is satisfactory in places that are important to you - if not you can return it. If mine works consistently OK at home I will ditch BT Broadband and phone as BT can’t seem to keep its speed up - I am along way from the exchange.

I have a 3 modem. Works ok but never as fast as at home. What speeds do you get at home?
I followed the instructions on this link dslzoneuk.net/socket.php and doubled my speed.
Bowserman,
I get typically 1400 to 1700 kbps on the T-mobile tested speed, and on the BT landline BB I am now getting similar - but earlier in the week the BT was down to 350kbps. That was with it plugged directly into the inside of the BT mastersocket and no phones connected. I suspect someone twiddled some connections at the exchange after I shouted at them on Friday morning.
In my area I am the at edge of the T-mobile 3G service so good speed depends where I am in the house. Occassionally I also see HSDPA on the strength meter, even though they dont claim to have that service in this area yet - maybe they are trialling it.
