CMH, why leave the thread? So a few posters have a different view, that’s bound to happen as this is, after all, a discussion forum.
There will also be some comments that could be considered rude, but there will also be constructive comments, even some that disagree, yet still manage to be civil about it.
Unless you only posted to get a bunch of “Well done mate, you tell em” type responses, in which case, welcome to the real world!!
Another thing you may wish to consider, you just quit a job because you didn’t like the way they do things, now you’re quitting this thread as you don’t like what you’re seeing. There may be a big life lesson learned from sticking to your beliefs and standing your ground, both at the anonymous company and here on this forum
Come back CMH.I did concur in getting the Traffic Commisioner to invite them in for tea and biscuits. If it is Beverly or Sarah Bell, they will need some luck and a good lawer.
It is shame the conversations had with these cowboys was not recorded.

If it turns into a public inquiry then the public can sit and listen.
CMH:
Genuinely laughed at some of the responses. Ok let me say this again, working through break is one of the list. How about employing people with no [zb] licence to drive a Class2 truck!
As for blacklisted, it would be impossible as I will wait a few weeks if not a month and then anonymously say something.
As for changing the world or taking on the industry, no that is not my intention. My intention is making sure cowboys come second to law abiding firms.
I went for a few jobs today and got an interview tomorrow for a firm who will take me on as a newbie Class1 driver. Some have said people don’t want to work hard, bull [zb]. I did 60-70 hour weeks on building sites, this driving lark is a walk in the park in comparison. If working hard and doing a bit of graft qualifies as breaking the law then you fail to understand the definition of hard work, you mean illegal work. If I was pulled, it’d be me paying the fine. If I was overloaded and hit a car due to not stopping in time it’d be me going to jail. Remember guys, it’s a job, not worth risking your finance or freedom for.
I understand some things go against common sense, I understand making life a little easy for myself and others but watching people drive with no licence, watching a truck go out with a missing side-guard whilst cages roll around. I can only imagine what would be said if a mother and child in pram walked passed and the cage fell on them, the driver would be hung to dry, again the employer blaming the driver and walking away relatively unharmed.
Spot on as for all the " I wouldn’t say anything and work for them brigade on here EITHER GROW A PAIR OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE INDUSTRY BEFORE YOU REGRET IT AND ARE SITTING IN A JAIL CELL them days are over IDIOTS
Own Account Driver:
Newbie drivers - thank god we’ve got them to make sure the transport industry is run properly.
Could you please respond to this question.
How do you feel about a man with no Class 2 licence driving around in a 18t truck + load with no entitlements on his licence?
I walked into this game with a clean slate, my slate hasn’t dirtied with years of dodgy practise. It’s people like you whom have the wrong outlook, not me!
In truth if he passes driving assessments and been doing it a while he’s probably as safe, if not safer than a lot out there. You BRAINLESS ■■■■ people like you frighten me if this is how the industry is manned
Almost all of the people that cause accidents on the road will hold a valid driving licence. Up to 1997 you could drive a 7.5t lorry with no extra training. Now drivers take a test in a similar size vehicle and drive a 32t eight wheeler.
It used to not be uncommon when I was at a big supermarket for rigid licence holders to take artics out in a staff crisis.

I can’t believe some of the things people are writing (or in some cases trying to write). To the OP you have morals and a conscience. Probably best to walk away from that job, it may take time but that type of firm will usually end up out of business.

Because people are making false accusations and questioning my integrity. One is so moronic he advocates a driver with no entitlements taking a 18t out to work for a month. I don’t mind difference of opinions but flippant snidey remarks and accusations of deceit don’t sit well with somebody who is telling the truth. Discussion is one thing but this is a witch hunt and to be honest I am better than it.
There will also be some comments that could be considered rude, but there will also be constructive comments, even some that disagree, yet still manage to be civil about it.
Some comments are pure conjecture from their behalf and assumptions are rather extreme. To call somebody a liar is pretty bold, to then accuse of being bitter, jobs-worth, know it all know ■■■■ all merchant etc. These slurs aren’t warranted or welcomed, if somebody spoke like that to me to my face they’d be laid out. The fact is though, they wouldn’t making such accusations because if they knew me they’d know it’s true.
Unless you only posted to get a bunch of “Well done mate, you tell em” type responses, in which case, welcome to the real world!!
You’re making assumptions yourself there, again, it’s a pattern that’s emerged far too frequently. I care and value opinion based on experience, I wanted replies that are constructive. Is that too much to ask on a ‘Professional drivers forum’?

I cannot tell by text to take that as a piece of advice or whether it’s a pedantic tone you have? I did well at school and I have an industry to fall back on let alone a class1 licence. I am wise to the world and 100% back my beliefs and principles. I quit my job because they put my licence, bank balance and freedom at risk if I continued there. I am quitting here (if comments remain unhelpful) because I don’t have to prove jack ■■■■ to anybody especially ■■■■■■■ whom accuse people they don’t even know of lying. I’ve not come here to be cheered for, I haven’t come here to be heckled. I have come here for advice from people in the know who are impartial and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the standards of conduct of members on here and what they have been allowed to post means they have been deemed unhelpful and I am shocked that you, as an admin, as allowed such slurs to be made by them.
corij:
what reason did you give for leaving? did you work your notice?
I refused to do a round where I would leave the base overloaded every morning for a week. I was told there’s nothing else for me to do and that I let him down. I then argued he was wrong and said ■■■■ the job. I should be fine for work from Monday onwards anyway so this isn’t a problem. Being told to work bent is.

All I would say, is that if the op is certain of the alleged practices, then make the call and let the authorities do their work.
If they find anything, then they will prosecute, if not, they’ll leave him alone.
If you firmly believe that the law is being broken, then you owe it to yourself and others to do what you feel is right.
Ken.
^^^^ precisely
It is what I will do. One of the drivers there is a really nice guy and is leaving himself because of the working practises, he was driving a decent round but they’ve added 6 extra drops for no extra money and vehicle would be overloaded now. He’s going to take some pics of trucks defects and record the gaffer ordering him to take out overloaded truck, for both his and my benefit should we be contested.

I don’t mean to sound like I’m insulting you. But if you were to write coherently your posts might be understood. At the moment your lack of punctuation and bad grammar is making you out to look quite stupid. Sorry!

And to Toby, Topmixer, Conor, Ken and Animal.
Anyway that’s cleared up somewhat and I shall move forward in my intentions of informing of illegal working practises and being overloaded.
Google Beverly Bell. She takes no prisoners and can make grown men cry.No messing about with her,no wool pulking over the eyes, she knows all the tricks they pull.Has the power to take any licence the same day of the tribunal. So tell your mob to book a fleet of taxis to get home,or the walk of shame.
Google Boyle transport and Russet Red.Both going to jail and two brothers now in jail for tacho fraud.
