pulled on stafford services this mornin, there was lithuanian driver parked up with 2 dobermans tied to the side rails of his wagon! spoke to the driver who said no problems with customs as he had passports for both dogs. he then told me he had not been back home for 11 months!! running uk,ireland, france, back to uk. quarantine must not be an issue then? i took photos but having grief trying to upload them!! not too good with technology!! followed instructions on tn but still no joy.

Quarantine hasn’t been an issue for a good few years now between EU countries, and some non EU countries. They travel under something called PETS, Pets Travel Scheme and provided the animal has been micro chipped, vaccinated and has had blood tests then it can travel back and forth. It should be treated for tapeworm by a vet just before each entry to the UK though.
I hear many a dangerous dog kept in confined spaces in the back streets of Burnley, them two dobermans are probably better fed and kept than the dogs I see which are owned by the tracksuit wearing chavs pitbull/staffie owners.
and Queue the person to bleat “its not the dog its the owner” pish… when was the last time you read reports of a golden lab, springer spaniel, border collie etc mauling a child.
its always the same old breed, the exact same breed, chavs tend to own ie staffs, bulldogs, pitbulls, that tend to be issues…

Of course it’s the owners. How many chavs do you see labradors?
It’s the chavs that make the dogs aggressive cause they think it makes them look hard.
Labrador bit a childs face the other day, I saw in the paper!

I’m gonna try that photo thing 0
WOW … it worked
Living in a cab for 11 months with 2 dobermans (Dobermen?? )!!!
Wouldnt want to take that truck over as the next driver!!
so while the UK trucks have to be inspected every 6 weeks his truck hasn’t been back to base in 11 months unless it went back without him and his dogs
yet another example of how “equal” we all are now under the EU baner
even switchlogic (who lives in his truck) goes back to base every so often for maintenance issues

What makes you think it hasn’t had inspections and services? It might not have but you can’t be sure, you don’t have to go back to base for those. When I ran my own truck and had a full R&M contract with Volvo I could have had my inspections and so on carried out at any dealer in Europe.

you say “could have had” neil, that implies that you didn’t actually. I know it can be done under warranty anywhere but do VOSA allow UK operators to do this? if so the less scrupulous ones could have them made up from anywhere. my point is how can we compete on a level playing field? if the driver and truck don’t go back to base then whats stopping everybody getting a cheap O licence in bulgaria for example? imagine eddie stobarts with his fleet all flagged out and the trucks never going there? and who’s to say the road tax isn’t cheaper in one EU country compared to another so register them all in that country and never go back? and finally i have a moral issue with this scenario, that driver and his company can undercut everybody because they don’t need to get home, so thats why we’ve lost our latest bit of work loading sevilla to scotland with plastic to a romanian company, how is that en route or on the way home? just stinks and it can only get worse
I would love to see some ■■■■■ try to steal somthing out of his cab
Are you allowed to do that? I would of thought VOSA or police might of had you having a distraction.

I think you have managed to have a debate and lose it all in one post there fella

Only because I never had to as the longest I was away was only a few weeks, but the option was there if I wanted to.

Yeah, why not? I had a maintenance agreement with Volvo and as long as the work was done that was all VOSA would care about. I didn’t always have it done at the same Volvo dealerships.

Not really their fault that drivers from some countries want to be home more than they do. Anyone could do what he is doing if they chose to.

Why does it have to be en route or on the way home. In the past I did loads from one country to another that were neither en route or on the way home, Germany to Switzerland, Italy or Poland, or Spain to Germany and once from Stockholm to Milan which were the opposite direction to home. I can remember doing a couple of loads from Taastrup near Copenhagen to Brussels and also did loads from Germany, Italy or Switzerland to Holland, France or Belgium that were on the way home, as was loads from Poland to Germany. This isn’t something only ‘foreign’ or East European drivers can do, anyone can do it but it tends to be something British drivers chose not to.
I can remember being in Fred’s in Coslada a few years ago when my load details came through, which was a load to Frankfurt, and the English driver I was with saying "[ZB] that, I wouldn’t do that I want a load to the UK or nothing. This was early in the week and he was expecting to sit until Friday for his reload. I went to Germany and then reloaded from Mörfelden, near Frankfurt, for Slough and probably got home about the same time he did but he was adamant he didn’t want to [zb] about loading for a different country as he wanted to get home…
there’s not much point in this discussion neil as you are in the “there’s nothing wrong in europe” camp.
you loaded spain for germany then germany to the uk so its en route, whereas there are plenty of companies doing say spain-germany-spain but they might be based in romania or bulgaria so don’t go back to base, but like you see it thats not a problem
maybe 50 or 100 taxis from cardiff should turn up in london and start undercutting the black cabs and see how long that lasts, after all we’re all european so it can’t be wrong can it?
well i’ll go back to my daily mail bigotted views and moan to myself seeing as nobody else seems to think its just plain wrong

Not true. I am in the I just don’t care about stuff like that camp. Live and let live, I’ll do my thing and they can do theirs. I have far bigger things to worry about, such as how am I going to pass the time until the football season starts again on July 23rd because at the moment the time is just dragging by. That’s what I care about and is important to me and my life and not whether some bloke in a truck goes home very often or not.
we know you’re in the “meh” camp
never nind the football season the rugby world cup is coming, sport for men

I live in burnley and its scary how many pits u do see, especially round the duke bar area
A couple of years ago i saw a chav with a bully kutta (think thats it) he couldnt handle it, would have been more suited to pulling barges down the canal.
Last few weeks or so theres been reports of chavs letting their dogs rip peoples pet cats to bits try being the parent trying to explain to a 5yr old that Tiddles wont be coming home again.
