chester:
and Queue the person to bleat “its not the dog its the owner” pish… when was the last time you read reports of a golden lab, springer spaniel, border collie etc mauling a child.
Border Collie’s are actually quite agressive, my mates bit me once because I still had my bike gear on when I knocked on his door, teeth went straight through my bike gloves leaving me a nice scar on my right hand.
I have a rotty and a german shephard cross, wouldn’t trust either with kids and yet they’re both brilliant dogs.
The german shephard cross is nearing the end of her life, back legs going, dementia setting in, partly deaf, partly blind etc… wouldn’t take much of a scare for her to snap I wouldn’t have thought.
The rotty is the biggest coward you’ve ever seen, when I come in he cowers, scared of his own shadow yet he’s never been beaten or anything whilst I’ve owned him (since he was about 7mths old) and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t before that. He’s now around 19mths old.
Again, with him being such a coward, I think it’d be easy for him to snap in percieved defense even if he’s not really threatened, just by a kid being a kid.
Mother in law has a jack russell toy dog, wouldn’t trust it as far as I could throw it, snappy little thing, had a go at my rotty once I thought it was a gonna.
There isn’t a dog on this planet I’d trust 100%, and I’ve had dogs all my life, been brought up around them, but they’re all descended from wolves at the end of the day.
