Still can’t get my head round this!!,makin a lot of fuss about having a nightout

It’s the “real men” and the “proper drivers” who are kicking up the biggest fuss

 Nah mate. Actually it’s the ‘‘real men’’ and ‘‘proper drivers’’ that can’t see what the actual ‘‘fuss’’ is about having the odd unforseen unplanned night out from ‘‘drivers’’ that can not comprehend that, that is the ‘Nature of the beast’ of the Road Transport Industry :bulb:
Hope that clarifies it for you

No need to clarify, I understand completely mate, it’s horses for courses some lads want nights out and some don’t, I don’t and never have done a night out so I take the type of jobs that don’t require it, if that makes me less of a man then OMG I’m devastated  it’s driving a wagon FFS not an exercise in gender reassignment

Thats fine, the true test is if faced with a night out would you be able to cope or choose to break the law in order to get back or squeal to your planner to be rescued.

To answer your question I would not “squeal to my planner” I would be looking to check into a hotel, I’m sorry if this upsets the “real drivers” but that’s what I’d do.

So to sum up, so far in this thread I’ve seen the following quotes-

■■■■■■■
wingers
passengers
arrested for gender treachery
when men were men
knob heads
screw drivers
so called men
better suited at home doin the housework.

and my personal favourite where one contributor even makes a comparison with the Vietnam war

What in Gods name is that all about■■? thanks for that dipper Dave that was comedy gold

This is all because some of us don’t want to do nights out

hi ,
i’d like to throw in a question regarding an unplanned night out.

i currently drive an artic with a day cab and have come close to needing a night out. where do i stand with being collected or put up in a hotel as the vehicle has no bunk to take a rest break on and if i end up in a layby in the middle of nowhere after some event like this latest m25 incident, can i legally take a daily rest in a day cabbed vehicle.

matthew

Engage brain where do you think you cant sleep in the truck so its going to be a hotel isn’t it which really the company should pay for.

Anyway to recap it doesn’t matter what you choose to do when faced with an unexpected nightout as long as none of those options include breaking the law or whinging to be rescued when your in a sleeper cab. Staying in a Hotel (preferably near a Bazaar) is fine.

Course i’m not including personal emergencies in this as we all know all bets are off when we have to get home.

I don’t see what the problem is.

If you don’t want to do nights out and your a day only man.
What’s the problem with refusing nights out or getting someone out in the van to collect you?

Now I don’t want a peeing competition as I do 4 or 5 nights out a week in ■■■■■■ lay-bys and rat infested fields upto my baws in mud. 3 x 15hrs and 2 or 3 13 hour spread overs as that’s what I have chosen todo for work. As it suits me fine.

But if doing that work isn’t your game then that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Everyone’s views of driving jobs is different and lads point blank refuse to be out their comfort zones or have family comments.

Speaking as a driver that has tramped for 35 years I don’t think I would have lasted 35 minutes if I had to, (let alone choose to :open_mouth: ) park in ■■■■ hole lay bys and the other places that you park in, or are you taking the word ‘tramping’ literally

The Sarge:
Am I the only one who has been stuck on a night out with no gear apart from the gear I started the day in, a coat and no curtains? [zb] happens - I had a bunk and an engine. Nobody died :unamused:
Not ideal, but you deal with it. Especially in the winter - one night out sleeping in your clothes won’t kill you - honest…

^^^^ This. A rolled up coat as a pillow, a working heater and some water to drink/wash my eyes & face with in the morning are all that are needed for ONE unexpected night out.

2 of us were away for a fortnight to Rome & back in 1986 in a single bunked 9 year old F10 with no curtains. We had a great trip.

NINE pages on a sleeping bag and a toothbrush. Heavens above I can see why I no longer visit TN as much as I used to do.

As for being at Trowell enroute from M25 to Warrington, I’m lost for words. I would have gone M40, 42, 6 hoping that by the time I got there the one section closure would be reopened. If not I would have pulled in well before the closure, looked at the map book & diverted locally around it.

The problem is that if you’ve run out of “duty time” (rather than driving hours) getting someone out in the van to collect you is not allowed within the Regs.

Yeh well tough ■■■■, I’m going for 10

Was it in the same motor together?
Was your passenger female?
Was no curtains a choice thing?
If the answers to 2 & 3 are Yes, did it act as an extra thrill in a voyeuristic kind of way?
Sorry mate I’m a bit bored.

Oh yeh, don’t want to be pedantic, but a f a I k F10s weren’t out until 1978, so it must have been an F88…told you I was bored

Late S plate could be an F series in 77.Early sleepers only had curtains dividing the bunk from the seats.
Two weeks to Rome(and back) is not really an unplanned night out.

Tango boy get a grip man  , a 9 year old motor in 1986 would have been regd in 1977 :unamused:
