Unplanned night out

Yes Robroy quite right ,the ones who make me laugh the most are posts where they start with moaning about working 9 ,10 & 12 hr days ,so I start thinking hmm 12 hr days braver men than me ,then the penny drops they’re talking spread over not driving ! So yes wrong job .

Oh Christ, here we go again

robroy:
Some on here are definitely in the wrong job, it’s transport ffs not working in a florists :unamused: , [zb] happens, deal with it.
As for the ones that nonchalantly admit that they would, and have, ran home if their time is up because of bad planning etc and because ‘‘nights out just don’t suit me’’ :unamused: …bless. :unamused: . and what about the star artist who said VOSA were reasonable :open_mouth: …yeh right!
I hope you all come a cropper and lose your licenses!..knob heads of the highest degree :unamused: We all know it ain’t ideal, but we are men ffs

This pretty much sums up my attitude to this situation.
Any driver who chooses to break the laws we all have to abide by just because they may have to rough it one night should be arrested for gender tretchery. This is a mans game (edit: ooops I know women do it as well but they have bigger balls than a few so called men whimpering at an unplanned night out) and compared to what our counterparts did many years ago we are driving around in bloomin luxury.

Personal emergencies aside every driver should be prepared for the times that the poop hits the fan, if not make the best of a crap situation. OMG back in naaam we coped with a lot worse.

Oh and if you can’t rough it for one night in your sleeper cab then no you are not a real driver by any stretch of the imagination and are better suited at home doin the housework.

Still can’t get my head round this!!,makin a lot of fuss about having a nightout

Read the other day in T&D mag about a 70/80s Middle East driver, the bit that stuck in my mind was when he got a new job, and he asked for a double drive only to find it was a day cabbed Merc. He just accepted it anyway when all the other lads had sleepers and spent weeks away in Syria and Iraq and the like in it.
Just compare him with some of the ■■■■■■■ on this thread :unamused: :unamused:
Fair comment or what?

It’s the “real men” and the “proper drivers” who are kicking up the biggest fuss

 Nah mate. Actually it’s the ‘‘real men’’ and ‘‘proper drivers’’ that can’t see what the actual ‘‘fuss’’ is about having the odd unforseen unplanned night out from ‘‘drivers’’ that can not comprehend that, that is the ‘Nature of the beast’ of the Road Transport Industry :bulb:
Hope that clarifies it for you

No need to clarify, I understand completely mate, it’s horses for courses some lads want nights out and some don’t, I don’t and never have done a night out so I take the type of jobs that don’t require it, if that makes me less of a man then OMG I’m devastated  it’s driving a wagon FFS not an exercise in gender reassignment

Thats fine, the true test is if faced with a night out would you be able to cope or choose to break the law in order to get back or squeal to your planner to be rescued.

Its irrelevant whether you do nights out or not.

I do understand that in todays metrosexual nanny society that what has gone on in the past is no longer accepted even to the extreme of making allowances for the fat buggers amongst us in fear of discrimmination repurcussions, but what seperates the men from the boys has and will always be their attitude when coping with adverse situations, some will just get on with it and some will not.

Quite right though its horses for courses…

I’ll be putting an emergency night out kit in the cab when I get an allocated unit - hopefully soon

and on another night you’ll moan about the lads who do 5 nights out…and max their cards out.

Am I the only one who has been stuck on a night out with no gear apart from the gear I started the day in, a coat and no curtains? ■■■■ happens - I had a bunk and an engine. Nobody died :unamused:
Not ideal, but you deal with it. Especially in the winter - one night out sleeping in your clothes won’t kill you - honest…
