But not humanitarian enough to let them come over here perhaps.
Ouch! Its everyone
s problem though, mate - not ours exclusively. After all, there`s supposed to be 27 states united in resolving “common” problems, yeah?

Desypete, I don’t know where you live but up here we don’t have any of the problems you’ve listed. Nobody has asked to come & live with me, or take my job or cash. No problems with dentists, doctors or anything else for that matter. You’re obviously a “glass half empty” type of chap.
As for the racism thing, it’s hilarious reading posters practically falling over themselves to prove they aren’t racist, even going as far as stating the Nigerian in his street is a hard worker & all round good guy, as if he finds that odd from someone coming from that country.
Not being a newspaper reader I haven’t seen much of ukip being accused of being a racist party, just that some of their members, councillors & other elected officials, Nigel included, have been caught using racist or homophobic language. You can expect more of this sort of thing as their candidates come under increased scrutiny leading up to the election.

You are correct, legally they should only cross one border, why don’t the French just transport them back to said border.

Billy - you are somewhat ambiguous sometimes. You have a seemingly irresistable propensity for twisting words around to try to fit in with your standpoint. eg, why would I find it odd that the Nigerian family are friendly, decent folk? Where in that sentence is the slightest implication that I am surprised by that? Why do you interpret that as being an attempt on my part to “hide my true racist views/opinions?”
FFS mate, do try to rein in the trolling.
edit spelling error.
Speaking as a black lesbian amputee the only racism I see on a daily basis is from white pseudo intellectuals who have taken it upon themselves to be morally outraged on my behalf! You see racism in the most innocent comment because you feel justified in your endless pursuit of your own manufactured agenda.
I’ve got news for you white boy, coloured people don’t need any bleeding heart liberals waving some sort of banner for them! You are so blinded by your own sense of superiority that you fail to recognise that you and only you are propagating the very racism you seek to find in every word, thought or deed.

Following on from maoster`s post about the latest developments concerning the French refugee camps, does anyone else find it breathtakingly inept that the decision was made in the first place to site the bloody thing on the doorstep of a major port to blighty? Talk about fuelling the fire and stoking up the inevitable problems that this [zb]witted decision was bound to create. Of all the rural regions in France, sparsely populated and well away from the border entry points, they chose to set it up adjacent to the Calais crossing, effectively handing the hot potato over to us.
Well, that’s a bit like the old question “Why do farmers always put the gate by the muddiest part of the field?”

I think you may have the wrong end of the stick old bean, they are simply illegal encampments set up by the refugees, not the French authorities. They regularly clear them out.

I too would not vote for an overtly racist party as I am frankly not racist in the slightest. One of the nicest families on my lane came here from Nigeria, and you couldn`t hope to meet friendlier, more decent and hardworking people.
Did you mean not “overtly racist” like the national front or bnp or just mildly racist like some of ukip appear to be. As for the rest it’s right up there with " I can’t be racist, some of my best friends are black". Racism it’s just about colour.
Hey maoster, who said I’m a white boy? And people aren’t “coloured” anymore, haven’t been for a long time. They stopped using it when it was deemed racist back in the 60s.
BillyHunt:

Oh I am sorry Billy, have I just jumped to a conclusion and been guilty of making assumptions? Tsk, go figure, something you’d never be guilty of I’m sure?

It’s fine, in my short time on this forum I’ve noticed that jumping to conclusions and making assumptions is like a national pastime. Everyone on here does it, or is that a generalisation?

Yeah it is a generalisation, but as you say everyone is at it so hey, why not you too.
I would also like to thank you Billy for appearing in the nick of time. For a while now I’ve thought that the only thing missing from this forum is an unelected and self appointed moral guardian to guide us through the trials and tribulations of life. You know, the type of guy to tell us how to vote, why we’re idiots for not voting that way in the first place, to explain to us how we’re all institutionally racist by our very nature, that sort of thing you know? So once again thank you for saving us from ourselves.

OOPS! note to self : must calm down and research more thoroughly before publishing! Thanks for the correction my man.

You’re welcome. But, and I know it’s only a small point, I’ve never told you how to vote, only how I vote & why I vote that way. I’m glad you’ve got this far, as a black lesbian amputee, without encountering any form of racism yourself, but if you don’t know what it is how do you know you haven’t been racially abused. Happy to be of help.
I’ve never been to the Moon but I know what it is.

Seriously though, my heart really does go out to the poor, wretched souls whove fled from their war-torn homelands, only to be ringfenced and treated so shabbily by the authorities. They
ve been shown no compassion and been given no hope of any imminent resolution to their unenviable plight.
Actually they were offered better accomodation and hospital services but refused to leave the area fearing some sort of trap. The camps were dismantled due to an outbreak of scabies.

Hi mate - those comments were in no way directed at the French authorities, more at the larger EU “roadshow”. I suppose the poor sods were fearful that they were being hoodwinked into being herded back to their native hellholes? I can understand their misgivings though, given the grim experiences they`ve probably already been through.
