Clegg is getting a kicking and deservedly so, same for Cameron and Milliband. They thought they could scare the UKIP supporters with racist bigot name calling, might have worked in the past, not anymore. The Libdems, the most openly pro europe party, lost all of it’s MEPs bar one, how careless.
It will be interesting to see which of the two main parties can do anything about UKIP’s popularity. I heard Grant Shapps saying if you vote UKIP you’ll get Milliband.
If enough people vote UKIP you’ll get UKIP, maybe not next year, but it will happen.
+1
I saw Shapps on the TV last night, he looked frankly pathetic. There was blatant smearing against UKIP supporters, which has made Cameron et al look very foolish. Miliband and Cameron know they can do nothing about the issues people are supporting Farage over; they have run out of ideas.

Really not cool to have to resort to such uninspired insults.
Thrilled and unsurprised in equal measure at the polling booth upsets which have occurred this week. About bloody time we were acknowledged as a vital cog in the political machine. ■■■■■■■■ to the euro-despots - we owe it to future generations to reclaim our own country.

If that’s directed at me can you post the whole thing, I don’t recall saying that about anyone. I could have been talking about mackems I suppose in which case I’m spot on.

So let me see if I have this straight Pete. You appreciate UKIP protecting the jobs of UK drivers, but if you had the chance you would buy a one-way ticket to Australia or America and do exactly the same as the EEs do here? A little hypocritical, but as I’ve already said, both viewpoints give a good insight into the UKIP support.
I and many other drivers on this forum have worked for many different European transport companies based in their countries and I can assure you that it was for the same money their own drivers got and in one or two cases slightly more, never for less, but even these companies are now jumping on the band wagon and employing East European drivers on a lower rate as a friend of mines company has re-registered its motors in a EU state and lowered the wages of its East European drivers although that friend has been kept on the companies national rate which is far higher, I can also guarantee you that those drivers moving to America, Canada or Australia for driving jobs are not doing it for less wages and a pretty motor, well certainly not the ones I know. I certainly don’t blame the East European drivers for trying to better them self’s in what they could expect to earn in their own country but not by lowering our wage, they are going to have expect disapproval when our own driver see their standard of living being eroded.

A couple of very interesting insights into the mind of the average UKIP voter here.
royhebb2:
well done ukip, up yours if you didn’t vote them, you are now in the minority even if you don’t believe it
The turnout according to the BBC was 43.1%. Of that, 27.5% voted for UKIP. That means that 11.9% of those eligible to vote did so for the Dulwich College-educated man of the people.
You’ll need to explain how the 88.1% of those who could have, but didn’t, vote UKIP represent ‘the minority’, Roy, because I can’t see it.

well done Nigel, and ukip so far so good
i know many uk truckers will be very happy knowing that there protecting there jobs for the future

sadly drivers are not needed in aus or usa lol i wonder why otherwise i would of been off long ago

ok olag, just to point out the so called 81 % you talk about do not count at all, if you cant get off your backside to vote you don’t have a say, anyway their to busy counting their benefits and mobility pensions and alcoholic pensions and attendance allowance pensions etc etc , and if their not they will be voting labour and to any genuine people who deserve the benefits I don’t mean you, its the skiving toe rags who are screwing us all and the system that I am on about, we all know at least 10
Anyone who has ever read John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” will understand exactly what is going on here. Just substitute “the eu” for “California fruit growers”.

why didnt you comment on the whole of my post ?
the part that says the nhs is full of emigrants as our own people quit the service or moved over to usa or aus with there skills seems to have skipped your attention
the part that say our own drivers will end up doing like the nurses and drs have done if there was any jobs out there for them as this country is doomed to ultra low pay long hours and giving homes that are in short supply to anyone who comes over here
my brain power or lack of it tells me that political correct types who welcome the emigrants should share there homes with them, let them take over the running of your home otherwise you will be called a racist and you dont want that, and also share your own income with them
and if your not going to do that why ?
also why do you want everyone else who lives in this country to be expected to put up with it ?
and finally my new salute to political correct nutters is to drop my trousers and moonie at them showing off my union jack yfronts
i hope it catches on and becomes a catch phase type of thing in the uk ukip are welcome to my idea it might put some smiles on peoples face during a protest or 2 ?
ok olag, just to point out the so called 81 % you talk about do not count at all, if you cant get off your backside to vote you don’t have a say,
this is an oft used argument, that if you don’t vote you have relinquished your right to voice an opinion.
BUT, if none of the candidates represent your wishes how are you supposed to vote at all ?
certainly the three main parties are now so close together their policies seem to almost be the same in many respects, and even with UKIP on the polling list, unless you agree with all of their policies you may not want to vote for them.
So, perhaps it isn’t laziness that prevents some from voting but a lack of representation among the candidates.
Surely though del, NO party has ever fully satisfied every aspect of a voters wants? It
s not practically possible really, is it?
Methinks most people cast their vote on the compromise that the party simply best mirrors most of what they want to see.
Total harmony with any party you choose to support is just a pipe dream.

The "Grapes of Wrath" are what you get after having a vindaloo Saturday night, and then spending some time sitting on a cold brick wall sunday morning.

havnt got time for the grapes of wrath, I still reading European directive 1,000,789 volume 27 paragraph 987, version 1999, in red, issued in 2009, supplement 6, but im getting there
That must be the bit about upgrading all Eurozone computer systems so that the police & hospitals and clearing cheques get windows 3.1, whereas banks recording your overdrawn balance, points on your licence, and medical reasons you’ll get turned down for a job - are stored on computers so cool, they’ve not been invented yet - but they never forget either.

Like others have said work for others first. When I was young it was my big dream to own trucks.
Trucks, plural. As in a fleet. Never had any ambition to just be an owner driver. But then I grew up, and sometimes people do.
