I suspect an awful lot of you will enjoy todays “theme”: F88 - F89
To start, how about this for a rare photo?
It comes from the personal collection of Peter Roff:
His first Volvo (far right) was a 240. Parked next to it is his 290 and to the left of that, is a White Trux F89 in their special livery to celebrate the Queen’s silver jubilee.
So here you have it: An F88-240, F88-290 and an F89 Cool ay?
And heres another from Peter Roff: His Chris Hudson liveried 240 which he drove himself on routes to and from Germany.
heres another cracking example of a 240 Unfortunaly this Picture has had to be removed after a request by the copyright holder
a selection of 290’s

and finally, for all you “day drivers” out there…fancy taking this baby out?
a rare old beast indeed! A day cabbed G88 rigid!
By the looks of it, i’d say it went into Europe
Anyone know anything about C L International?
bring you all down to earth with a bump next time! Might do Merc or Fiat theme
and to finish, a Crusader run by BRS. Yes they did do M/E in these, but not sure if this particular vehicle went. I think this photo is by Peter Davies. Not one of mine.
Crusader theme is strong possiblity , so is Volvo F88/89
watch this space…

Here`s one of the BRS Marathons for you whooshwhoosh, take from a scan (not a very good one)out of the BRS book
I think it said that they were run from Northampton depot, which last time i called in there it was the yard of E M Rogers
Have to agree with Coffeeholic cant get any better as far as im concerned
the f88/f89 were the ■■■■■■■■, and i think they were without doubt the
best looking truck with the split screen, really looked the part ! keep them
photos coming, and as everyone has said do a book, will be a best seller!
Dagenham Storage, which later became Hayes Distribution, used to run 2 or 3 G88 day cab unit’s on containers.
Got any more White Trux pics Ash?
Having grown up around the Kent area I remember seeing them quite a bit,and I seem to remember they were originally based at Aylesham near Canterbury.
I think there was a Volvo dealer at Aylesham too.
What about combining the FIAT theme with Maggie-Deutz?

yeah KW, i got pic of Hays G cab Volvo when it was used as a shunter, but reckon it should go on the next thread i do entitled: truckin in the 80’s “DOMESTIC” as opposed to this one: international…
got plenty more White Trux, but do they need to go on a “Middle East” thread?
Dont get me started on that one mate…
i like your idea of combining Fiats and Maggies…infact im struggling to find any decent Fiat pics. May have to include MAN and Renault too

This one will get all the ears pricked up when i mention the magical word ASTRAN… (or should i say Asian Transport at this time)
they had this one on hire and was driven by one Gordon Pearce who did 3 trips to Tehran in it! Photo taken on route in Germany.
And take a look at this beasty. Steady now Whooshwoosh!
Apparantly Baileys did a spot of Mid East too, but i have no evidence…unless someone out there knows different…
Coombe Valley dabbled in a bit of European too
And this pic accompanied a press release from MAT Transport.
