Truckfest Peterborough 2019

Never been to a truckfest before and at bit of a loose end this bank holiday. Was half tempted to go, but at 22 quid a ticket, I was less than half tempted. Anyone off here been before and is it woth the money? Anyone going this year?

Only ever been to one , and that was when it first started. Probably wont see a lot different to what you could see in Watford Gap on a wet Wednesday afternoon…for free  Seriously, if you are into that sort of thing then its worth it, these shows might provide the motivation for a few new bloods to join the industry. They might also go a little way to cast a better light on the work that the road transport undertakes, but again I doubt that. The majority who go must have an interest at the start, I cant see a family with kids going to an event like this over a visit to a theme park of some other attraction, but either way, whatever floats yer boat!

The shiny tank brigade from my lot are off up there “exhibiting” or whatever it is they’re doing.

This means that they’ll get an easy day tomorrow whilst the likes of those who have no interest in it per se will get stitched up.

I don’t mind if that is their interest then fair play but when their attendance penalises me then of course I’ll be annoyed*

*Note - Stitching may not happen, but call it an apparition…

I went every year from 1985 'till 1996.

Then I moved back to Belgium. Haven’t been since.

Was tempted as a guy I know is going and I could get a ride with him, but it seems I maybe getting a new car delivered Saturday

I went to the first one, then the last time I went, I got a free ticket courtesy of this site, but have never been since. at £22 a ticket plus fuel to get there and back, and to see what I see every day on the road, then I will give it a miss.

It went too corporate years ago, and started to wheel out ceelebs that had no interest in the industry. Plus I don’t think spending a weekend polishing the gaffers motor is my cup of tea as I have better things to do with my time.

Ken.

My opinion…

Great as a social occasion, if you know loads of the regulars.

Also great if you just like looking at loads of shiny lorries.

In my old job, it was a great venue for sorting out suitable ‘cover’ trucks.

I’ve not been to any Truckfests for years. My favourite was always TFSouthWest at the Bath & West Showground, simply because everyone was so friendly - Somerset is like that. It moved from there some time ago, and I’ve no idea what it’s like now.

I found it was ok for a one off, but very little changes year on year, making it a bit samey! Go this year, wait 5 - 6 years before going again.

I’m doing instead, the same this year as I said I was doing last year, (that I much prefer.)
I’m getting a pineapple violently rammed up my arse with a sledgehammer.

Although I’ve heard from my young grand daughter that ''Bobby from TOWIE may be parachuted in, …so that may be a deal breaker after all. :unamused:

Used to go from the late 80’s to the early nineties but I got bored of it. Not really interested now even though the site only 15 miles away from my house.

Im providing a hospitality trailer for the Kinaxia stand tomorrow. :sunglasses:

Think I’ll be dusting off the big hammer and nipping to the green grocer…sounds like a cracking idea [emoji106]

He doesn’t look like he could handle the big hammer but I bet he knows what to do with the pineapple

I had a drop at Tesco P’borough yesterday and saw the truckfest signs on my way there. I was thinking of going with a buddy but he probably won’t be up for it for £22 + travel (about 250km there and back from home so another £12-13). £40 for a half day, i don’t know. I probably won’t go. Maybe next year

Why do lorry drivers spend free time looking at lorries?

Do builders go to brick fest and say ‘look at that shiny breeze block’ or plumbers go to pipe fest and spend all day drooling over bending machines and packets of flux?

Never seen the attraction.

I have a delivery about 20 min’s from the show on Saturday night and I was thinking about heading over in the tractor unit but it will be about 1am when I get there. Is there anywhere within walking distance I could park as I don’t think i’ll get into the parking area at that time

Funny that, …I was having a similar conversation yesterday with my mate News at 10.
