Yeah remember that too,very funny.
If my memory serves me correct the series ‘Truckers’ had actor James Hazledene in the role of company boss Picard,he had a fleet of clapped out ERF B series artic units. James Hazledene also played the part of Bayleaf in Londons Burning & is one of the few actors who holds an HGV so quite often can be seen doing driving scenes when he actually is driving rather than a film going past the sides!!! . Bill Maynards actor son Maynard Williams played the woman daft young driver in the series called ‘Rollo’ and there was a character called O’Brady who was Irish & had a fleet of Mercedes Powerliners!!!
regarding the programme truckers ,james hazeldine played pickard ,kenneth cope played the fitter, the drivers were cowboy, bedrock, fogofski, one played a driver in brookside, the wagons were erf,s with a mack cabover the details can be found on google,
I remember a program in the eighties in which Dennis Waterman was picked up
while hitch hiking by an Ackworth Transport "B"series ERF, the storyline was that
the driver was gay and he propositioned Waterman, fgor months afterwards
when any of us called into “Normans” at Brotherton the cry was lookout here
comes Shirtlifter Transport. As all the vehicles had a fleet number the
tractor was readily identifiable to us so the unfortunate driver also got the
mickey ripped out of him.

When/where was this taken■■?

Can any one remember the TV comedy/drama? series called Truckers? I was only about 11 at the time The company in it were called Pickards if i remember right. Im pretty sure there was only one series made. Does anyone Know if videos/downloads are available of it? Seem to remember the fleet were ERF/ Fodens. I think a modern day version would be quite a good thing to have on TV!
Thats a blast from the past let me tell you all. I worked for K&P Iddon transport in there workshop and we did work for a compeny called Western trucks on Mosside ind est Leyland. we got the job of working on the truck to put it back to how a mack should look ie mirrors etc. the truck belonged to a guy called Kevin but I cannot rember his last name.
The BBC payed to sort the truck out and the running costs wile they filmed. so we had our work cut out due to the BBc not letting Kev drive it and some point a stunt drive it, well try to. But one day it all sort or whent wrong. this truck would go in reverse in any gear in it range if I rember right? Anyway the stut driver got it in reverse going foward at about 45mph and do I need to say what happended next lol.
So then the BBC had more costs after us making a gear box out of 2 to get the truck back on film
