OK so been working and very busy so missed some stuff on here.
I’m working with an agency ATM evil so I’ve had starts from 1am to 11am so far.
Anyways I thought I’d give a review of my new satnav (the one ash put a link to at the start of this thred) but first ash please send me the web address to get it updated and before you ask no it hasn’t met my computer yet
To start with to call this a satnav while true doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s more of a tablet/satnav hybrid as it has a lot of media functions.
Things I don’t like or that I don’t think work:
The drivers hours calculater thing seems completely useless to me. I’m probably not using it right but it told me I’d used up my driving hours 1 hour in this morning so
It’s interface is very different from both tablets and car satnavs so its taking me a while to get used to it.
If it gets confused about where you are for any reason it starts hopping around the roads, not the best thing when your approaching several junctions on top of each other. But saying that if your a good driver you shouldn’t be relying that heavily on your satnav anyway.
The screen is flat, so in bright sunny weather at times I could see my own reflection better than the map on the screen.
Things I like:
It has NEVER sent me wrong yet. Once I turned out of a place the wrong way, instead of trying to get me to go round the block in tiny, theoretically legally, residential streets, it sent me a couple of miles up the road to a nice sized roundabout to turn round on. For me that’s a big plus.
Your rute is fully customisable. You can add way points anywhere in your rute, you can also delete any of the ones you’ve put in. I haven’t tried switching the order yet though so can’t comment on that.
It’s constantly scanning for alternative routes and offers you them to preview as you come up to where they would diverge. If you hit traffic it does this even more as it realises you must have hit traffic as your doing only 15% of the speed limit. Even more helpful.
You can add a deture manually and tell it ether which road or how many miles of the current rute you want to avoid. It loads up the new rute for you to preview before you set it within a second or two. If you increase the miles to avoid, a second later your looking at the preview. The preview is also not the whole rute it only shows the section of rute that’s different so theres no need to zoom etc to see what the new rute would be. In the preview it also tells you the difference in distance and time so you can make an informed choice. Then if you set the new rute and then change your mind there is a button to cansel it and it’ll go straight back to the original rute. Another big plus for me.
I can’t think of much else. The unit itself feels well made and has a good weight to it. It comes with a touch screen pen if you feed the need that slots into a secure slot at the back. The cradle is well made and doesn’t drop off the window with a good amount of adjustability.
If you want to use it in a car as well you can set up a new user profile and set it as default car and all the lorry settings are gone and its just as good as any car satnav.
Unfortunately it doesn’t come with a case for evil to eat for afters so mine currently lives in a winter sock, at least it won’t get cold
Evil, i have just received my sat nav and it directs me under the low bridges as well! However if i set the heights to smth stupid like 40 feet, it keeps me off the low bridges.
i have logged a ticket, hope someone from support can help.
i tried googling but nothing coming so far, like there is no issue with the sat nav at all
Anyone using the Noza tec SatNav - we need your help!
i think the key is the TI FTR file (i have this one - United_Kingdom_R3_NQ_2012.Q2_120731_(TI).ftr)
if anyone with working height restrictions can share UK map files (all UK) it may help
edited to add that not the FTR file should be the same build as the other map files, so all files per country are required.
i have also checked the updates that are available online the freemapsupdate website and they do not contain the FTR file, only maps, which means they are useless for trucks. I now tend to return the satnav and get Ash’s one
Ohh no priest! I am sad to hear that the sat nav is not holding up for you, so it sends you under low bridges regardless of your height?! That is not good at all, like Trog said his has not sent him wrong once which is the same as mine. Also I have never experienced the jumpy road thing you was on about I am guessing just bad signal? Yes its taken me a while to get used to the interface but now I know exactly what I am doing and love it, very easy to use with loads of extras on it, like I said if Garmin made it, I could not imagine the price ticket they would put on it! Also I don’t using the driving time as it is ■■■■ and I don’t actually understand it if I am honest, I will keep my own record without the sat nav. I got a case for 1.97 mate, and updates wise I cant remember the website press update on sat nav and it tells you
i think someone else experienced the jumpy thing, so not sure.
Anyway, i have ordered the ProDrive one (the one that you guys have if i am not mistaken) though i will the Noza Tec one for a while to see if the support is going to fix it. To be honest i don’t believe they would, as the new maps have no TI FTR file at all.

I’m quite sure the jumpy road thing was just due to satalite links bouncing off of a few rather tall glass clad buildings. It’s only done it once so far. I think it was trying to be helpful and recalculate a new rute asap for me. I wouldn’t not buy another one because of it.
I’d be very surprised if you regret getting it priest
Blimey Trog, you have some strange start times. Hope it’s paying well!
I’ve seen my CrapNav screen jump once, and the truck was in a field for a second or to and not on the road!
But that has only happened once…
Nice review Trog, and it appears yours is a bit more sophisticated than the Noza Tec, which we can only really call a CAR SatNav now…
And to that end, I’ll probably keep mine in the glovebox of my car, and get a better one. And while it does sound like yours is good, I’ve come to realise that a good SatNav is invaluable, and am going to look into the top of the range models. Yes they are expensive, but when you consider how much you use it, it’s not really that much money. But for the next few weeks, I’d appreciate it if you can continue giving feedback and Trog’s and Ash’s SatNavs…
as i say - if my theory is correct and we get the files from the NozaTec device that works fine with heights, it should work on ours as well. We just need to find the volunteer
Priest and Evil, I believe you just need to give up, get your money back for that ■■■■ they call a sat nav you was sold and invest in the one me and trog have got. When you press menu trog theres like a screen with 8 to 10 buttons on and an update button is there which gives you a website, I have not updated mine yet so let me know if you do how you get on.
Blimey £40 for a Sat Nav…and you got problems with them…hahahaha …if you’d spend a little more like £70 then you could have bought something a tad better and I believe the support is a lot better

I’m sorry to say mate but from the screenshots, that SatNav is running the same software as my cheapie CrapNav!
So if mine has a software problem/issue, then more than likely so will that one…
But as I say above, it was worth a punt, and if the software bug regarding bridge heights can be fixed, it’s well worth £40 to get you started.
I’m probably now going to buy a TomTom6000 which costs £290, but until i had work, i didn’t want to shell out yet another large lump of dosh, that I didn’t know for sure would earn it’s keep or not. But now i appear to have more work than i can handle, I’m happy to cough up the dough and chuck the cheapie in the car glovebox for emergencies.
Shut up evil! you are being silly now do not spend that crazy money, please buy the one I have got honestly it is just as good if not better then the leading brands! Do not go wasting your money or at least wait for us to test some more? Priest I am glad you have seen the light good man.
Think you’ll find Evil that the support might be a lot better than the £40 jobs… but then you pay for what you get … Tomtom seems the good option, you get life time map updates and 1 years subscription to live traffic… which will re-route you to avoid jams and keep you on the move…after that if you continue with live traffic it only really works out 93p per week…Dunno if the other Sat Nav providers offer something as quick and fast as its claimed through Tomtom…
Garmin have a few decent reviews…not to good on the Snoopers…just be sure if you do get something expensive then you either insure it or keep ya cab locked when your unloading and never ever leave it behind in your truck coz someone will find it a new home…be sure of that fact
Although bear in mind that “lifetime” doesn’t mean your lifetime, nor does it mean “until the satnav dies”. It means “10 years” max - or less if your satnav is stolen or breaks and can’t be fixed.

Very good point not many people realise this, I believe you only have to update your maps every year or two anyway as not much changes? Some might disagree though.
