ouch seems expensive! and does the exact same thing as the one im using , I have not had any problems with mine as of yet. touch wood
ok, another day and another instance of NavTeq maps sending my not where i would want it. Was on class 2 today and got routed through quite narrow lanes in Dartford area. They were ok for a rigid but i suspect i would be in trouble doing it in an artic and i had an artic setup on the satnav.
Teleatlas routing seems better but for whatever reason the bloody thing still thinks Dartford crossing has a 7.5t limit!
won’t be doing NavTeq maps any longer

One option left then is it? lol
I’ve only come across one mapping mistake so far. As far as I’m aware the maps come from a separate company so don’t have anything to do with the unit itself. However a utility to make adjustments to the map would be helpful and I don’t think the pronavs have one. I hear some £300 tomtoms do but have never used one myself.
The case I bought is perfect for it. Personally I would definitely not rely on the little white pocket it comes in as I had more protection on mine and it didn’t save the screen. £6 is a small price to pay so you don’t turn up and get your sat nav out to fine its dead. Not a nice feeling when you don’t know where you going with the load on your truck
let this one arise
my bloody crapnav stopped working today. It thrown an error while i was charging it from my pc which i did not pay attention to and when i needed the bloody thing could not find any satellites
any thoughts / similar experience?
i obviously will ask the seller as well

Ouch. I think I remember something about you can reset it but it can take a while. I couldn’t help more than that. Get on the horn to the seller
Ouch I hae had no issues yet let me know what the seller says
Just bumping an old thread to help people find a sat nav as I am seeing a few posts asking advice on sat navs!
resurrecting again.
was driving yesterday around M20 (snorland / ashford area) and the ProDrive satnav kept loosing the GPS signal. it was not like it looses it for 10-15 secs, it was literally 10-20 minutes the device was bricked, i even had to stop to put the destination on my smartphone map and use it. rebooting the satnav did not help either. It happened the second time now, not sure if the heavy rain and all the clouds have such a massive impact on the signal.
Having said that i had a chance to use a garmin around Braintree area once and on that particular occasion it was even worse than my ProDrive - kept losing the signal.
anyone experience this? are there anomaly zones in receiving GPS signals or is the device itself?
Was it in a different vehicle to the one you normally use? Fitted with a tracker or some other mobile data device?
Has anyone updated the sat nav from the first post yet with the update in october?

there is no such thing as “the vehicle i normally use” for me as i am a limper
not sure if it had smth fitted but that’s quite likely as it was a 15 plate daf
are you saying this may have an impact?

if this is the same ProDrive, then yes, i have updated it, can’t remember when though. The speed limits are still old, but at least Dartford crossing is not marked as a 7.5 t!

haha how did you do it, not really sure on how to do it, and yes it is rather annoying with the dartford tunnel, tried to take me around the entire m25 instead of through it from maidstone, not that im stupid to do that lol

anyone experiencing problems with the signal?
have only ever had it twice lose signal, once in central london, really didnt help me but turning it off then on again worked for me and the other was for about 10 seconds, never as long as the other post stated

Definitely. The GPS signal is weak - very weak (the satellites are over 12,000 miles away and don’t have very powerful transmitters). As a result, any nearby radio frequency source can easily totally blot out the signal. If the vehicle you are driving has a tracker fitted, it will also have be using a cellular mobile transmitter to send its location info back to base.
We had a new fleet back in 2009, all fitted with trackers. Some of the installers (they were done by a number of different workshops - it’s not a small fleet) made a very tidy job, with any excess cabling coiled up neatly. Right next to the tracker units. Unfortunately these loops have the effect of capturing the RF transmissions from the tracker and channelling the signals straight into the vehicle wiring (you could even hear it on the in-cab radio). The wiring loom then re-radiated all this RF interference into/around the cab, drowning out the GPS signals so that many Satnavs couldn’t get a decent lock, and would drop out for 20 minutes or more at a time. Some Satnav units were worse than others, and some were slightly less affected if operating on internal batteries rather than the 12/24V ■■■ lighter adaptor (that power cable acts as a mighty fine antenna…). Some of us had older TomToms which could use an external GPS antenna (magnetic mount onto the cab roof). But all of them could be pretty much totally fixed by finding that coil of cable (typically next to the fuse box) and either un-coiling it or relocating it.
Makes sense, thanks for explaining
Sirf3 and above changed all that as they are much more sensitive to the point signal loss is usually a software or application issue it could even be the hardware in the device is faulty. The device Raymundo using back the could have been a sirf2 chipset in it rf interference can cause an issue if it’s dropping out for 20mins before coming back and you’ve had an update recently I’d say roll back to the version before you up dated. Strangely using a smartphone app rarely gives these issues
