Whilst having a Crap Nav is to assist with your journey…dont for get to look at the road signs for low bridge warnings…

No mate, he’s on his company induction this week, which apparently includes 2 days off!
But he starts/started at 5:30 this morning!
ash 001:
I see where your coming from, good advice as I will be delivering to lots of houses
New builds can be a pain in the hoop. Easiest thing to do is call whoever its going to and ask for a nearby main road, the name of the build (eg. Sycamore Gardens, The Mews) or who’s building it. Get nearby and look for the yellow signs stuck on lamposts or ask where the new Barratt houses are or whatever.
Its a bit daunting at first but you get used to it and used to finding the usual places for new builds.
A.
Sorry guys been busy with work just going to keep it short but sweet, if you hit any bridges I am not liable can you please sign a disclaimer for me . It has not taken me anywhere I shouldn’t but today delivering to lots of houses it doesn’t like it because im over 7.5t even though its access only so I am going to lie about the weight of the truck tomorrow and see how it gets on. Nope me not ill just two days off preparing me for the ridiculously long shifts ahead

I wouldn’t change your setting if I was you pal, as there are plenty of weight limits you will then get routed through that you have no justification in entering. Yes it’s a pain mate, but I saw a scaffolders wagon being pulled over for entering a weight limited route which was a short cut/direct route over the water to the other side of Southampton. Another good example in Southampton is the bridge at the train station, a right bloody pain when you want to get to just the other side of the bridge!
yes but, it is taking me really long ways around when my route is in the middle of the access only, so what is the best thing to do, do you think?

Not sure mate. Sometimes when I get close to a drop I just ignore the satnav and follow my nose… Carefully
As for the 8.4 ton thing you could always just over estimate how heavy your truck is
Well basically, I was in a housing estate that was a li it of 7.5 access only so I am legal still, the sat nav took me in here no problem. Getting out it sent me on a 20 min route out when I could have just used a main entrance but it didn’t like it due to being 7.5t so lots of time wasted that I didn’t have. Lesson learnt weight of truck is now set at 7.4t and I just use my eyes like a normal human being

This is where HGV sat navs fall down imo, you’ve had to disable 50% of the uses you bought it for,the other 50% being bridge heights.
I deliver to a lot of shops inside 7.5t weight limits and this is why I have always stuck with a normal car tomtom and my own observations, don’t get me wrong these HGV sat navs are good but if your running from RDC to RDC.
Is was in London all week on retail deliveries what ever sat nav I’ve had over the years ive had to drop the weight to 18tonne when inside the m25 and use mk1 eyeball and check Tue route first
yes that is the real problem with house deliveries, truck sat navs do not actually help much other then the bridge height. But disabling the 7.5t restriction if I get to it and its not access only I have to work my own route around :S

and width restrictions as well!
ok, update from me.
i have received a new memory card from the seller/support team. It appeared that my device originally had no memory card in it, i am trying to confirm whether it is expected or not.
Evil - does your device has a memory card in it?
Anyway, with the memory card the bridge heights and width restrictions work ok. This set of maps is dated 2013.03 and is about 150Mb (Evil - if you want them - let me know).
i am following this up with the support as to why two of the three sets of maps i now have are not working properly.
But anyway, now i seem to have two fully functional truck satnavs

Nope, no memory card in mine, just a sticker on the back saying 4GB. Yes I’d love the working maps mate, as then i have a backup if my lush tomtom 6000 goes wrong or walkies!
I’ll send you my email pal.
P.S. What is the memory card type? Or have you overwritten the ones on the main device memory?

I leave mine on when i do residential drops, but I’m not normally traveling more than 5-10 miles drop to drop, so I can assess on the Satnav what route I want to take, and if i’m close I just presume the address is within the limit. But i don’t assume this in the main cities, as those limits are probably there for a reason and hotly monitored, as the scaffolders found out!
So do you think the plod will believe your truck is 7.4 tons when you show then what the SatNav told you to do?

no, i have not overwritten anything, it worked straight away after inserting the card. However i suggest you back up you current maps on your PC.
It’s a microSD 4Gb card, goes directly into the slot next to the micro usb
OK thanks, just ordered an 8GB card off Amazon for £2.06.
I choose an 8GB as when i initially looked that them, I think there was a a 12GB version, so hope the SatNav can address a card that size. And I’ll find out!
mm, i thought i just copy the files onto your device, no need for the SD card…
