Sounds like a two manned job, need for a tramper and a supporting fridge technician, they both can fit in the cab, lorries commonly have a companion’s seat on the nearside
… I’ve been giving it more thought, as that of the “fridge experience” kept me scratching mine’s head…
Of course! it surely means that the tramper in question has to be able to endure a running fridge while trying to sleep; and deal with the annoyance caused by such running fridge’s engine among fellow comrades in the vicinity, particularly those also trying to get a hard-earned rest.
the nodding donkey:
To be fair, if you’re struggling to find a driver in South Wales, you’re doing something wrong…
Not any more mate. As many on here will know, I worked for Forfarmers for a long time. when I joined in 2005, it was very much “dead mens’ shoes” and I was very fortunate to get in. Nowadays, like pretty much every other company which employs HGV drivers, they are struggling to recruit.

the nodding donkey:
Still no response from the o.p.
Sorry ND, like I said, I don’t come on here much anymore and got distracted by a couple of damaged trailers!
We plan to move to Newport but atm we are based near Hereford. Sorry but I can’t be more accurate than that.
You clear £750 a week including ‘night out’ money. 5 days out of 7. Permanent role
Yes the 'fridges are run overnight. Our trucks have 'fridge and microwave at the very minimum and the majority are Volvo. (One DAF and one Scania V8 atm)
I am looking for 2 drivers atm and one of the trucks is manual (Jan '22 Volvo) if someone would prefer that
Now queue the number of people complaining about money. Any questions please just send me a message and I will get a notification

Thanks for the response good_friend
At that rate, you will struggle to get a driver, definitely a good driver. After taking the night out money off, it looks like about £12 -13 per hour, and you want weekend work for that aswel.
Most companies now pay over £13 an hour, many pay more, because of Tesco (Magor) Asda (Chepstow) and the close proximity of Avonmouth. All the big players are in Newport, offering a variety of rotas, paying extra for weekend work.
I’m not having a go btw, your business, your conditions, just saying.
I didn’t think you were having a ‘go’ and thanks for the best wishes.
It’s a small, family run company and they are a decent lot so I am trying to help. That £750 is clear, after tax etc. so a little more than you think, but not much, I agree. I’m their TM so I really try not to get involved with accounts as much as I can
Oh well, I have put it on Indeed now so we will see
I was making about that money tramping ship containers for Maritime in 2004.
The nickname is too obviously too fishy, the depicte donkey and writing tone suggests contempt for those unfortunate fellow persons who fell into being born regarded as servants and peasants in rural Britain; which by the way, the donkey is truly convinced they should feel grateful for being granted the opportunity to subsist on crumbs.
Probably donkey sees himself as one of the masters as he may get a bigger crumb, which is still a crumb, not a piece of the cake, cake is only for the master. And such depicted donkey may be spot on, for he might be deluding himself in a délire de grandeur when he is just serving as the master’s minion
