Tramper Job near Newport, Gwent

Just for comparison…
I take home the same money Inc nights out just the same.
Nice easy job. 5 deliveries and 5 back loads is a standard week.
Job and knock on a Friday, regularly done for between 1 and 3 pm on Friday.
Nice trucks and lovely people to work for. I currently have a Scania S580 V8 that has all the whistles and bells.

Point is, I regularly get told I could do better money elsewhere. I stay put due to a sense of loyalty and being looked after.
The wage on offer for the advertised job is not gonna tempt people.

Just my 2p…

I was making about that money tramping ship containers for Maritime in 2004.

The nickname is too obviously too fishy, the depicte donkey and writing tone suggests contempt for those unfortunate fellow persons who fell into being born regarded as servants and peasants in rural Britain; which by the way, the donkey is truly convinced they should feel grateful for being granted the opportunity to subsist on crumbs.

Probably donkey sees himself as one of the masters as he may get a bigger crumb, which is still a crumb, not a piece of the cake, cake is only for the master. And such depicted donkey may be spot on, for he might be deluding himself in a délire de grandeur when he is just serving as the master’s minion

Oh look, Russel Brand has joint us.

I take home £100 less a week. But I work 4on-4off.

I had a feeling that may be the case.

The drivers we have seem happy enough so I am stumped now. We’re stuck because we just can’t pay more atm. That will change but I’m not making any promises to people as that’s not fair.

If anyone has any brainwaves then please let me know

Is their any connection to Whites transport services?

No, not at all

Half the threads put up here are new passes that can’t get a start, what is your position on them? Would your insurance allow you to give them a chance?

You say it’s “any 5 out of 7”. If you need to cover 7 days, have you thought of 4on-4off, or 5on-3off, and maybe a semi retired driver?

Like I said, I earn less a week, but having 4days off every week, is worth it. And I think that the days of expecting drivers to work 100 hours a week, and go home just long enough to change their washing… are coming to an end. Unless you can pay more than the supermarkets.

I think they need (want…) experienced drivers who understand the “collect frozen load at 0030, drive to Sainsbury’s RDC for 0600, drop trailer, park outside for 9 hours, collect trailer at 1600 and start another 15 hour day…”

Which is fair enough. But today, not many drivers are willing to do that anymore.

I don’t have a problem with new drivers. Hell I was one myself in 2016, but insurance won’t cover them unless they have had their licence for 3 years. I have tried but the charges they wanted were stupid

We don’t do 100 hours or even close. Some do Mon - Friday, a couple do Sun - Thur. I guy only does weekends. We’re pretty flexible about what hours you do.

I’m very compliant as a TM because of other work I do. I don’t kill my drivers by overworking them. I have worked for ■■■■ companies in the past and I am not going to be the reason we are seen as ■■■■
