Trailer on public highway

Afternoon all!

Is a trailer legally parked if it is solo on the road? Said trailer is around 6foot away from our gate to our yard where Lorries come in and out.
We have previously approached this company and they don’t really care

What’s steps would you take?

Wind the legs up so the turntable misses the pin.
Wind the legs down so the prime mover can’t get under the trailer.
Remove the winding handle after completing the previous options. :smiling_imp:

Legal or not, if it’s preventing your trucks getting in and out of the yard…move the ■■■■ thing out of the way.

Got a tractor unit? Know which company it is? Pick it up in the middle of the night, drag it across their gate, dump it there.

And no it can’t be parked on the road overnight.

It’s MAN…they often decide that they want to park their stuff outside our gate. Today I parked my car in front of it. Along as the general consensus is that I am not being unreasonable then great! They put a note on my car saying that I’ve blocked the trailer and that it could be missing a delivery slot or costing someone money for not being able to use it… think about where you park… is it actually legal or not ?

They often park cars where the red line is, and units and trailers where the yellow line is. To the right is our entrance.

Such a shame if the cars or trailers were to get accidentally damaged due to their bad parking by some truck driver

It’s nearly happened many times. We have new drivers, agency drivers and careless drivers [emoji23]

Maybe a bit of investigation as do they have trailers on their licence, tractor units and buses yes but trailers ■■

Is that really a public highway? Looks to be private land!!!

They do have some branded trailers but unsure what these are.

Hitch up trailer and move it away from your gate
Park the ■■■■ heap tractor unit you don’t use right in front of it.
Wait till they come to you as they need the trailer then say “Oh is it in your way? Yeah its annoying that isn’t it. Ill get around to moving it at some point”

You never said is it man distributor trucks and bus or man distribution of spare parts
If you have a trailer spare just park it in the same place but as far back as you can from your entrance and leave it there
There’s lots of things you can do if you really wanted to but sitting on your hands never solves anything
Nothing illegal just ■■■ for tat buy a car banger for a 100 quid and park it in the middle of the space
Play them at their own game

That is a shot before the bow. It needs to be answered, and you have already been given a few pointers.

If playing nice doesn’t work, let down the tyres. Put a king pin lock on the king pin. Wouldn’t it be a shame, if a local graffity artist used their trailer as a canvas. Maybe mice could find an abondoned trailer an appealing new home…

Stop playing nice.

I approached their staff in reception and they seemed to play ignorant, which is why I parked my car in front of it for the day. They did, on friday, leave a bigger gap but why do we have to take such steps? Why can’t people just be more thoughtful [emoji23] especially a company like them.

Troll or truth play them at their own game its not rocket science, and you are a company owner the mindset boggles hows that’s possible grow a set of balls

I like SDU’s answer. And of course, park something in the way of getting at the trailer. I’d have thought it illegal too, seeing as your trailers come under the prime movers insurance? Over here, it’s legal to park a trailer because they have the own rego and plates.

Depends on the state of rego, Peterm. In Queensland the prime mover carries the CTP for any trailers being towed, so no coverage when dropped. Also applies to caravans, boat trailers etc.
Next time you’re passing the twin BPs at Burpengary, drive through the truck park, you’ll see signage forbidding unhooking Qld registered trailers. Same at Australia wide BP truck stops.
