About 5 1/2 hrs to tunnel. And about 8hrs other side. Torquay to other side of Brussels is about a days work.

Did you take your break at 56 mph ?
Or do you mean - cruising at 56 mph, 8.30 driving plus the time taken for a break ?
Or - cruising at 56 mph, 8.30 from Frankfurt to Calais in total (including 45 min break, which means 7.45 driving) ?
After Liege, did you go Namur - Mons - Tournai - Lille - Calais ?
Or Namur - Mons - Tournai - Brugge - Calais ?
Or Anvers/Antwerp - Gent - Brugge - Calais (which would be more than 15ish miles longer, off the top of my head) ?
If you go (A44) A4 A61 A48 A3 its 6 ks longer but cuts out Koln. I always go via Lille, Namur, liege rather than Brussels, roads a bit more bumpy but you get fewer numptys sitting at 52 and loads of 3 lane were you can pass when you do come across one

Might be quite a bit slower over the Lille - Namur stretch at the moment. There are quite a few km of road works on that stretch just now.
As I said before as I live in Torquay. You can’t do Dover in 4.5 hrs on the tacho. And as others say, depends which way you go once over the water.
Used to do Ramsgate - Frankfurt 2 or 3 times a week.
Tunnel to Aachenerland services (Via E40 / E314 - Brussels / Leuven / Heerlen) is 4 hours 10 on a good run (all our runs were overnight). I used to stop at Heerlen services as the coffee was cheaper than in Germany. Then 3 hours down to Frankfurt. I went via Liege the first couple of times, but found the E40 from the Brussels ring to Aachen boring as hell.
On the way back for a change of scenery, used to go (from German / Dutch border) E314, E313 to Antwerp, E17, E40. Absolutely nothing in it time wise to the tunnel.

Liege-mons-Tournai-Lille-Dunkirk-Calais at maximum 56mph and I’m sure I stopped for my 45 min break or I might’ve had the company magnet that week in which case no I didn’t stop
7.45 driving plus 45mins break

Used this route twice this week (and again on Monday again ) and lost about a total of 10 mins in total thru road works. If id have gone Brussels at the same times I wud have lost hours. Its all down to preference at end of day as not a lot in it either way you go I just like to avoid the major cities as if it going ■■■■ up its going to be around them normally
My planned route was Gent around the Brussels and koln ,I really don’t want to be stuck in traffic
I have spent hours around Antwerp ! Please not again
So lemur route may be better for me as I drive between 8am and 6 pm
In homage to brit pete, I would like to throw THIS ROUTE into the mix.
Slightly longer but cheap diesel and baccy in Lux and less Maut through Germany…

Id thought about that route but unless you have huge tanks with the hills and extra miles you will burn more than you save and you will only save about 20 euro on tax and if you hit lux at rush hour you can loose an hour in traffic and an hour and half queing for squirt
We also used to go passed Spa /Verviers to Frankfurt when we did new Hondas to the factory…mainly for the nice restaurant south of Verviers…
All is good i have a formula 1 card account and a travel lodge card, lol happy days
No sleeper then ?
Formula 1 card = result ■■?
Think I’d rather be across the seats.
The heaters broke and waiting for a new truck, are the formula 1 bad?
I still get over night. Money and free digs
Who do you run for Slob?
