Same here, been doing it for a few days now, including when I first tried to post this!!

You Quinny, it’s been slow for sometime now.
Requests for a refund have been met with no response so far.
Its taking anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute to load a page for me . Someone needs to grease the hamsters wheel and check it has food and water .
Yep…back to what has now become ‘normal’. 
I reckon the site is going to suffer a lot of lost interest, a lot of ‘traffic’ and maybe one or two members…this sh has gone on for a while now.
Even I who uses it regular and who has been on it a relatively long time is finding it a complete pain in the ■■■■ lately.
Hoping it improves soon.

Technically, that makes this site “Unsecured” don’t it?
Compare that to say, looking someone up on a search engine that you know has substantial content on their say, facebook page…
The FB firewall prevents you from searching up even confirmation of the existance of the person you may be searching for…
Most of us might look to "Is it the Fred Smith I know… Check this photo… but there are over 1000 Fred Smiths inviting you to “Add Friend”.

11 days between the latest post, and the oldest “latest” post on the list.
Page loading slower than continental drift.
Who else now only comes here once every couple of days, to see how slow the page loads, and if it’s still actually going?

There never seems to be any archiving - everything is still available from the very beginning of the forum.
Stands to reason that if you add thousands of new posts each year, that the database will start to struggle when seeking out the information.
If you were to separate the database every now and again so that the recent stuff is in a smaller database, surely that would be better.
Crikey have they finally found a new server down the back of the sofa or will this be short lived loading a page in less than a week?

Yea the people in charge of the forum have left it mainly to its own devices for well over a decade at this point with minimal updates haha.
If they updated the forum regularly like they should of it would be fine but I think now the current version of phpbb they use is about 10 years old so updating to the latest version will cause plenty of issues. I suspect they are of the view that it is not worth the hassle of dealing with any such issues that will occur with a major update.
I don’t blame them of course. I doubt this site brings in a great deal of revenue lol but it is a shame to see it neglected to the point where it can often pose a security risk to those who use it. I mean lets be real… most people who use this site are 50+ and probably use the same password for every site they visit.

I’d give some thought just to creating a new forum with a fresh database / fully updated and archiving this forum for people to browse old posts.

Not here.
I have just had to give the hamster a boot up the arse as he had stopped on his wheel.
It is varying, sometimes seems to load quite quickly other times usual just waiting for it to finally load.
