Threaten with being thrown off site

I picked up some bags of cement today , tied curtains back with internal straps as I always have , bloke said if it was any other site I’d of been chucked off site with load as I hadn’t used a rachet strap too tie the curtains back , I’ve always tied them back with internals and never had a issue :sunglasses: , explained this too him but he just went off on one about reading the bloody h&s book .
How many places do you tie curtains back with rachet strap  , not done it before

Propping the fire extinguisher against them works too.

always looks a bit dodgy, bloke hiding behind ‘peek-a-boo tassels’, so its becoming common now for sites to insist they are fully tied back so they can see what you’re up to. You know it makes sense…

Now got that image in mind…peek a boo’s c/w baubles tied back with a greasy old ratchet strap… :grimacing:

Forgive my stupidity - I’ve only been retired six years - but exactly how do you tie curtains back with a ratchet strap? Using the internal straps is very simple and quick.
(I do know this is a Dozy post…)
Steve

Probably trying to be a hi-vis hard man. Often uses phrases such as “you’ll be banned from site” and “I will contact your boss”.

Tell him if he wants it done with a ratchet to do it himself, if not, kick you off site or stop flapping his hole and load the thing.

I find myself with no time for these sadacts, idle threats of telling someone older than me that I’m a naughty boy stopped being scary when I was around 10. :unamused:

A.

I love it when someone threatens to have me banned or removed from a site somewhere.
It’s like they think I want to be there and I’m going to cry if they won’t let me stay.

I’d be ■■■■■■ off getting thrown out of somewhere if I’d had paid to visit.
To be thrown out of somewhere I’m being paid to visit doesn’t bother me one jot.

Just tell em, ok mate give me a few minutes to do up my curtains, and i`ll be on my way…

Easy solved don’t tie the curtains back at all

If it’s a particular ■■■■ hole that I hate going to, and some jumped up little prick threatens me with a site ban, I usually say …
‘‘Can I have that in writing please mate, just in case someone is going to let me in next time by mistake’’
It usually brings them down to earth if you show that you don’t give a toss.

.

I lost count of the number of times I have been threatened with that, being thrown off site.
I was barred from 95% of the customers that we hauled for and to.
Friday last week was my last day…Aldi RDC at Goldthorpe, I put 3 pallets in the wrong place and they wanted me to move them all of 10 yards, it was not happening, so they refused me my paperwork…Long story short, security could/would not deal with me, so they said they were calling the Police, I asked them to go right ahead, because I would want to know why the Police would attend and for what purpose :unamused: Just another way of bullying a driver.

I waited for an hour, nothing, so bogged off.

I did another couple of RDC`s that day and not a problem, however I was sick and tired of being treated like a bit of dog excrement, I only did 2 days a week, so I jacked it on the phone.

I will not be treated like a 5 year old, I will not be treated like I am a Leper covered in excrement, I am a Human Being, I expect to be treated as such, I don`t want red carpets, or undivided attention, I want to do the job to the best of my ability and be nice to people, as this ensures my day goes smoothly and is enjoyable, I hate stress.

I liked the driving, but the people…Well, I can do without the people, apart from the nice ones.

I’d love to know what they were going to tell the police.

All ive done is site work for years never once have I been asked to tie my curtains back what aload of ■■■■■■■■!!

I’ve never had a problem at Aldi. Usually in and out within the hour.

Just try imagine having to deal with 60 or so drivers. Some will be smart, some will be clever, some will be professional, some will have the mental capacity of a five year old, some have an attitude problem, some will make you retch and heave as they lean in through your hatch. Every day there will be the smart arse, giving it the ‘I’m not insured/trained/paid’ to do this, ‘it’s against my human rights’, 'I’m a driver not a warehouse lackey ’

How difficult is it to put pallets in the right order in a line? If you struggle with that, you should not be driving anytbing bigger than a Micra. On L plates. Putting pallets in the right order in a line is because the big pallet movers pick six pallets at a time to move them to the warehouse. If they can do that quickly, it means that there is room for the next truck to unload. Maybe you. Or would you prefer to wait for an hour whilst the warehouse staff do it?

Drivers cry when they have to unload, and cry when they have to wait for warehouse staff to unload them. Just grow up, and shut up.

It’s a fair point, but at the same time I think in this situation the aldi staff seemed just as bad. Refusing paperwork? Refusing to deal with him? Saying they will call police? Now obviously if he was being abusive then that’s different, but if he was just refusing to move them and that’s it, end of the day they have the goods they could have just given paperwork and let everyone crack on.

In Dozy’s position, I would have professed total ignorance, and asked him to show me how to do it - twice.
