A couple more of the F7 midgets (great little motors) … c/o net transport-photos.com, but they are mine … honest
A couple more for you of the effin 7
Again and the same company
Both units pulled 32 max loads either on a tank or trailer.
Tyne Shipping and Forwarding was my first job after leaving the Forces 81, running pipes up to Portobello from Hartlepool in an old Scania 80, it was a nice change to have a hired in F7 for week but would have prefered the Transcon my running mate got, mind you he got stopped on the A1 and got a good rollicking from a traffic cop for getting carried away with the Fords ability and he completed the ticking off by saying ’ Tell your mate the same I’ll keep a look out for you both next time’, Phew! Knew a few of the Rea’s lads, good mob. Years later when I worked for the Fire Service Training Centre we used to get scrap wagons in to use for cutting exercises, one day two day cab F7’s turned up ex Asda, they were in too good a nick to cut up so I hung onto them as long as I could, even got them running, lovely little motors and would have took no time to restore. When I left I later saw them standing with the roofs and doors cut off, shame. Nice motor for the time, might not have been the flagship and it had its problems but it grafted. Franky.
anybody remember chart-hire truck rental they had volvo F7,s anybody got any pics cheers
In the 80,s i worked for Baxter Healthcare in Warrington the guy that took are loads to Scotland depot was John Phillips of ■■■■■■■■■■■ i,m sure he bought a F7 and called it Lucky 7 on the sun visor i think he is still going not sure what happen to the F7
A real knob head!! Machine Mart always gave me this F7 while the regular drivers had much newer stuff, but I loved it. Gear knob got in way for a 45, though.
Tesco is from Lorry driver of year competition inside Leicester cattle market while Tarmac F7 location speaks for itself - makes engines grunt going up and brakes squeal going down.
The Gringo:
Again and the same company
did tyne shipping and forwarding have anything to do with cawthorn and sinclair, the colour scheme is almost identical

twin splitter, The answer is yes, Cawthorne closed down and Allen Cawthorne started up on his own withTSF (Tyne Shipping & Forwarding ) in Newcastle also SVL (Southern Van Lines )in Southampton. (See pictures) Apart from various other lorries we mainly started with Scania 80 day cabs, then joined with F7 and flats then bulker tanks finished If I remember right with 2 F7s in SVL and 1 F7 in TSF colours.all doing international work, mainly France.

I worked for Cannons of Milton in the 80s, we had about 8 of them. My old girl was VAA 197V, I was on general, but we were into everything, PFA Tankers in/out Didcot Power Station, Coal up from South Wales in Bulkers, Tauts, Flats, Low Loader machines for ARC Sutton Courtney, regular run was paint/chemicals etc from Glasurit, Abingdon up to Leeds (Charthire Depot) tip 1st thing in morning, another drop or 2 Liverpool/Bolton? then backload Oil from Shell at either Trafford Park or Stanlow for Milton, Oxon. My old F7 took me everywhere, up Scotch all over, as said she could have done with a few more ponies but she never gave up, nice comfy ride as well & good bed surprisingly spacious as well for other activities (Oh come on, we all get lonely!). I got some good photos of her, when I can figure out how to put them on here I will. Have to ask “The Dark Side”, she good at that sort of thing.
i can remember Patten Bros from Ilminster having a few units on tipper trailers & later on Ken King in Devon having a 6x2 fitted with a bulk blower body , always liked the look of them but unfortunately never got the chance to drive one , the nearest i got was having it’s french cousin a 6x2 renault G290 & drawbar
