Question Larry ----- was the 8 wheeler flat single drive and the tippers were double drive ? Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis, Flats were single drive, The tippers were double drive, The flats were flat out at 37mph, But they had the 11.3 AEC engine in , and of course the had the Aberdeen overdrive, Or also know as silent sixth box which was an optional extra that was up to the drivers discression on how to use this added extra    ,I certainley used it, Being a naughty boy of course, But I never got into any bother,And allways checked the prop shaft bolts just in case they had come loose, Happy days Larry.

Are foreign motors welcome on this thread?

Both of these had Fuller 13 speeds, best box ever as far as I’m concerned.
These MAN’s were unstoppable off road. Very underrated at the time,I loved them.
The yellow one had very high ratio diffs, and luckily for me the speed limiter never worked -the upper edge of the green band on the rev counter was 75 mph.
Top speed would see the tacho needle go right round , as far as it would go.luckily I was on logbooks not tacho, as utility work.
Happily drive either tomorrow if they had a modern crane fitted
