The Graveyard

Snapped yesterday-

That AEC would make a good “twin” project for 3300john! It’s almost the right colour, too.

Had some alloys for my Golf shot blasted by a local farmer just up the road from me on the A34 in Stafford. Didn’t see what was lurking in the field by the industrial units he lets untill I collected the wheels yesterday!

That’s William Bakers old place, I remember when the LB 76 was almost new, an E reg 67 IIRC, by the way I use that shotblaster a lot for motorcycle parts, there is also a good powder coaters shop (Nirvana eng.?) across the road from there.

Hiya,I wonder if the old Vabis looking sorry for itself was this one,Cheers Bubbs,

It is.

Yes and I was wrong about it being an E reg, It was actually an F reg as they only had the one Vabis.
Where on earth did you dig that photo up from Bubbs of when it was new, I know who took the picture and where !

p.s im told it runs like a swiss watch , its a drawbar outfit and the trailer is sheeted on the back of it .

Thats nice looking where is it and is it for sale ?

Bad phone pics but the A-series 4-wheeler was seen in Wiltshire, the ECX is one of two that have been retired from front line duty and this one is sitting round the back of Brown’s Distribution yard in Stoke on Trent.

Dont know about these two I spotted at the Yonderman Cafe on the A623 Wardlow when I called in for a brew. The ERF had a tax disc which expired 10/12 + opp licence on the windscreen . The Foden from what I could see had the gearbox removed and it was resting on the 5th wheel bed  + no tax disc or reg plates.Any of you lads from the peak district area know anything about them

I wonder why the ecx was retired  as browns have still got some motors older than that on the road, just the other week I saw an erf ec in longport.

cheers

Just enlarged the photo of the ERF S645MRA and has you say Dan it was at one time owned by David W Booth, you can just about make the name out on the passenger door where they have removed the lettering.

I’m not sure the reason but both have been taken off the road, a shame as they are/were really nice motors to drive.
There is still a white ECX in daily use and also a blue/grey EC that has been retired numerous times but keeps finding it’s way back onto the road.

They’re part of the old fleet of G Cross and Sons from Wincham, some have already been sold but there’s still a handful of ERFs left in the undergrowth including many spares from trucks broken over the years.
although the owners have no interest in restoring one themselves they are very enthusiastic about the preservation scene.

A couple of F88s that may be slightly past their best.

Well past its sell by date but it still fires up & the Hyab still works too,Regards Larry.

itv 002.JPGPhotographed these last week parked(?) at the ITV (MoT) testing station at Orehuela:
The red one is an Avia 3,850kg GVW and looks as though it has been there some time! Avia were a range of trucks 1,500kg to 11,000kg gvw with Perkins engines which were built by an aircraft repair company in Madrid from 1957 until they were taken over by Ebro in 1975. The late models were fitted with Ebro-style cabs, so I reckon this one dates from the late '50s or very early 60s. It appears to be complete, including all the glass, so could make an interesting project if you could still get bits!
The Scania was the mobile test unit but has not moved from that spot in the three years I have been using this station. I couldn’t get into the cab, but it appears to be very low mileage and is in extremely good nick, although it is now detereorating rapidly - you can see in the pic that the exhaust has fallen off and the spoiler is broken.
