Cant believe it has been left to rot ,think theres a bit of a story as to why it was laid up.Got a couple more pics but cant upload them, might get the hang of this interweb thingy one day!!
The lorry featured in one of the truck magazines and iirc the driver said that the cab had been kitted out with all kinds of tat on a trip to Morocco
I could be wrong but i think the only time that lorry went over the water, was to a truck show in Holland.

Some pictures i took yesterday of poor old girls in a sorry state near Derby
6Was this D1000 lurking in the undergrowth in Shipton’s yard at Foston, by any chance?
I knew this lorry well as I used to drive it in the late 1960s when it was owned by J H Allen and Sons from nearby Hilton It was a four wheel tipper and quite a rarity at the time as it was fitted with a ■■■■■■■ V8 engine, distinguished by the chrome strip across the front of the cab - went like ****!!! We were working out of Croxden Gravel at Tean, doing two trips a day to the Liverpool area - full chat on the M6 in the dark the exhaust would glow red hot and flames coming out of the silencer. More than one occasion I was flagged down by a concerned motorist to tell me ‘your truck’s on fire’!
When she finally blew up, she was sold as scrap to Vic Shipton, who fitted her with an AEC AV505 engine, which I recall required a good deal of modification to the cab floor and between the seats. We had taken the tipper body off and Vic fitted a hydraulic crane and used her for many years as a high-speed long distance wrecker.
I would imagine the AEC engine is still there in the brambles.
Steve
Hi Steve.
Yes the D Series was at Shiptons I took the pictures early last year, I spent may a happy hour working on the D Series, when I was training a Livingston MOTEC D Series tractor units with v8’s in was all we had to work on, in later years I looked after a fleet of D Series for ICI noble explosives at Fisherwick.
Not sure if the engine was still in the Shiptons D Series the AV505 was a great engine which I also spent many an hour repairing them for WM Rowe & Sons at Elford.
Regards Andy
