I’ve noticed over the past few weeks a few of the 52mph brigade seem to have sped up. Recently been overtaken by Sainsburys and John Lewis/Waitrose motors (not subbies or hire units either)
Anyone else noticed the same?
No it’s all in your head OP, tesco, swain, culina, wincanton, marmite, Morrison, dhl (getting bored now) still barely do more than 50 & I can’t see it changing anytime soon…

Culina do 52.8 mph to be precise.

Sorry, I never drive that slow to notice…
I got overtaken by a Waitrose DD the other day like I was going backwards, I wonder sometimes if their Isotrack goes into meltdown for the day, the drivers know this and pull the fuse just to let their hair down for a bit.
My company set all their vehicles to 52mph last year but mine and a couple others slipped through the net… apart from the Irish, the shellfish motors and the odd subbie I feel like the fastest motor on the road… then a coach ruins that illusion
Just managed to pass a Waitrose truck the other night. I was doing 56.
Mine has been cut to 52mph “you’ll find it more relaxing” I was told, I actually feel like it’s bloody dangerous, I can’t even pass tosco’s and have a constant stream of traffic trying to get past. If it’s saving fuel it isn’t that obvious.
Ours are limited to 54 but will sit at 56 with a bit of encouraging lol needed it got stuck behind a tosco chump doing 49 on the M4 tuesday, going to bracknall got overtaken by a waitrose decker he wasnt hanging about either how dare he lol
All these wagons trundling along at 50/52mph are positively dangerous, to drive one must be so frustrating.
Funny 2 of you mentioned the waitrose DD. It was mainly him which made me write this post.
Some of us have worked hard enough to enjoy
bimbling along thanks and I say to those who have
a problem with that you aint done enough work yet.
So crack on drive.

Tbh I struggle with this Dave; how can a vehicle travelling 5mph or so under the Motorway speed limit possibly be construed as dangerous? Would you consider a truck travelling at say 36 mph through a 40 mph limit to be dangerous too?
I reckon that all those folk that “suddenly” come upon a slower moving vehicle need to practise looking a little further ahead. Perhaps it’ll save them some grief in the long run.

Because every action has an equal & opposite reaction, it’s the chain of events that occurs as a result that’s the problem because not every driver can deal with it…!

Yes, i have seen this and been overtaken by both, and they were doing a healthy 56mph.
DHL (the part of DHL with the gay teardrop trailers) are still stuck at 85kmh, i am getting a brand spanker tomorrow when i get back to the yard and it will be 85kmh.
Has anyone noticed the amount of people doing 75kmh on dual c/ways latley? I have even passed a few motors the last month or 2 on cruise control at 78kmh on the motorways( premiums, you can see the digital speedos)

Thats what I thought before I started driving one, you get over it very quickly. It’s the way forward (at least while everyone else is still dong 56). Sit in lane 1, cruise control and let everyone else worry about overtaking. Bliss.
To say they are ‘positively dangerous’ is a bit extreme though in my opinion, 50/52mph is perfectly acceptable progress.
I find it a pain some days I will be in the lorry or the coach
the slower speed on the fh 56 mph vs the B11R 62mph
Some of the “old” white K+N daf motors are able to sneak to 55/56, and a minority of the green units will sneak to 54, but in the main it’s a case of sitting at 83 clicks in the 60/61 plate green daf units out of our place.
Not sure if the units out of aylesford or Bracknell are any different to us, but it’s pretty rare that we are able to overtake anything!
I did have an old 06 white daf the other night that I managed to overtake a few motors on the M4 - was well chuffed! Haven’t been able to do that in ages
It does get a bit tedious sitting at 83kph (not quite the 52mph stated on the back door of the trailer!), but it’s hardly stressful (until you come to a steep hill…)

Normally the dhl plain white motors with a big sticker on the door, overhead aftermarket a/c & trailers starting with’ EMRT’ do 56, no idea what’s so special about them…

Was a waitrose unit aswell not a hire truck
