Hello Leyland 680
Thankyou for that marra. I see. I did wonder like because if I remember rightly, there was a bit of a stink about them closing the depot in Barrow.
When the depot was up and runnign, how many lorries did they run at Barrow?
Kindest regards

Gill, any idea what Stobarts policy on replacing vehicles is? Up above is a 10 plate already onto a new owner, yet this morning I overtook an 05 Reg (PX05 CVG iirc) on the A66, seemed a very old truck to still be in colours.

David.

Hello dew
Yes, I can help you there. The replacing vehicle policy changed in 2010 so that now:
Scanias are replaced every 2 years (except Megas which are kept for 5/6 years)
Volvos are replaced every 3 years
Mercedes are replaced every 3/4 years

Also,
Rail Lorries (not vans) are replaced every 10/11 years
Rigids are kept for max 15 years
Drawbars are replaced every 8/9 years
Car Transporters are unkown as of yet, but I’ll update this post when the first ones start been decomisioned (I expect they will be kept for the same time as the Drawbars)

The PX05 one is question is run by a Stobart Subbie and is based out of Goole. Subbies are asked to replace there fleet every 2 to 4 years but often they don’t.
The oldest on the subbing fleet is a PY02 Scania 4 Topline 4 x 2, which is in the new livery.
Subbies (if they ask for a Ex Stobart owned vehicle) at the moment seem to be getting 11 reg Scanias

Hope this is of some interest/help marra

Hello Leyland 680
Thankyou for that post marra. Many thanks
Was the Barrow fleet all MAN or was it a mixture?
I know Workington was a fleet of around 30 MAN’s and Penrith was a fleet of 15 of Scanias (all changed now like) when they started.
Plus, can you remember any of the Fleet Numbers of the Barrow lorries?

Hello dew
Stobarts changed the livery in 2004, more or less 6 months after the WAD takeover in late 2003.
The first liveried lorries where a bulk load of Volvo’s & DAF’s, along with some Scania 4 & R Drawbars.
The first bulkk load of Scanis to be liveried up where in 2005.

The new trailer livery didn’t come in until 2005, and Stobarts ran a load of Plain Green curtainsiders with eddiestobart.co.uk on the back doors.
Hope this helps marra and heres a photo of the PY02 Scania 4 Topline one.
The photo is of a sister lorry to the one I was thinking about (PY02 RRV). This one was owned by Brewers of Penrith. It is now decomisioned.
But, PY02 RRV is still in service. I belive it works on Homebase deliveries

Hello JB
Thankyou for that. Where you a Stobart Subbie? If so, which depots did you work out of?
Also, do you still do Stobart subbing (sorry for all the questions) and whats the reg of your current lorry, as I might have a photo of it I can post
