Hello dew
Yes, I can help you there. The replacing vehicle policy changed in 2010 so that now:
Scanias are replaced every 2 years (except Megas which are kept for 5/6 years)
Volvos are replaced every 3 years
Mercedes are replaced every 3/4 yearsAlso,
Rail Lorries (not vans) are replaced every 10/11 years
Rigids are kept for max 15 years
Drawbars are replaced every 8/9 years
Car Transporters are unkown as of yet, but I’ll update this post when the first ones start been decomisioned (I expect they will be kept for the same time as the Drawbars)Kindest regards

They do not keep these Scania for long, at least they can keep them and their finance debt off their balance sheet!
I have noticed that they do not buy MAN’s anymore.

Hello everyone
Sorry for my delays in replaying. Was out spotting at Carlisle yesterday where I took loads of photos and spotted my first Volvo LNG gas truck!
Photos will be on Trucknet over the weekend
georgeking, your right there marra.
They don’t buy any new MAN’s now. This was because of two reasons:
- North East Truck & Van (MAN dealers) couldn’t offer then as good a price as Graham Commercials (Scania) for a bulk deal
- Stobarts fell out with the MAN salesman at North East Truck & Van.
Stobarts last big order of MAN’s was in 2008 (around 200) and the last ever MAN order was in 2009 (3 lorries with two been the first fuel tankers to enter the Stobart fleet)
Stobarts have recently gone back to North East Truck & Van but this was for Iveco, of which there are talks of more entering the fleet.
Hope this helps george
Kindest regards
