Over the years some towns and cities in this country have had a reputation for being…a bit grim.
Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Glasgow, to name three. A city which seems to have escaped being called manky is…Derby.
But!!! Can anyone tell me if there is a nice part of this awful city?
Its just horrible, and Im not just saying this because every road in and out or going through is constantly getting dug up and changed. Just driving around the ring road today (because of the usual delays on the 38) I was struck by how utterly down at heel and generally scruffy it all looks. The irony is that its the very place you
d want to get through as quick as possible…but youre usually stuck in traffic. All places have their good and bad areas but I
ve never seen a decent bit of this place.
Just saying thats all.
Got it in my clipboard now
I was up there a couple of weeks ago , drunk with a few Derby supporters , all good lads , no trouble, then they had the nerve to beat us 5-1. Didn’t see much of the city, just a pub in front of the station and the short walk to the ground , seemed alright a Mexican restaurant and a few other things like that . Last went there in 83 I think when all their fans invaded the pitch , and it was proper grim then. Anyhow the bit I see was ok. , nothing special . The local Asian shop ripped us of on the cans of beer prices for the train back.

I take it you went via the south side of the city, very very dodgy, you would’nt want to break down anywhere on that route, that’s for sure.
TBF, the best bits are tucked away where the average truck is’nt welcome, the city is booming work wise, with RR and The railway infrastructure companies among the big employers…where I live it’s infested with southerners, loads of them, all here for the work…the areas you went through don’t work, and don’t contribute…
I know a fair few who came here to study at the uni, and have stayed, so It can’t be that bad …we do have a big problem with the latest wave of immigrants, who seem to think shoplifting, pick pocketing and fly tipping are normal, but this seems to be the norm everywhere !!!..have you been anywhere near Brum lately, that City is fading fast as well, funny how both seem to be led by inept political chancers ?

Or Rhyl went on a Saturday afternoon more empty than open places, boltons not much better either lol and another vote for swindon apart from the magic roundabout thats always game for a laugh in the morning
Think really any big city is pants. All the councils want to do is invest in out of town shopping areas to keep traffic away from the city centres. Stoke is my birth place and when I see it now it really gets me down, go into the city centre and yes it has a good large shopping complex which is being expanded to house new shops, cafe`s and a cinema, but walk around the corner and it looks like the yanks have been using it for target practice.
never mind mark , they can’t bugger ladmanlow up !
Can bet they would bleedin try though! ffs look at the farce with The Cresent!

When were you last home mate ?
Always found Grimsby the most depressing place.
