I agree, £30,000+ 30 days holiday and a shed full of staff benefits, worst job in the history of transport ever.

That bad I had to say it twice!

Fuel tanker drivers are on more & I bet they don’t get half the bs that tesco gives you lot so ha… I still wouldn’t work for them no matter how much they pay, there’s more to life than money for some of us…

Slight difference to driving round with thousands of litres of petrol/diesel to driving round with a few ton of grub.

Congrats on getting the job! Shame about having to leave the county although I don’t blame you for not liking Selby, I’m not too keen on it there either :grimacing:

Hope you enjoy the job

Cheers

In a nutshell, after 24 years as a driver I have been there and done it, only an idiot would pass it up.

My only regret is I didn’t get on with them sooner 30 years paying in to the pension you could retire on more money than these so called “drivers” earn, and it which point did I say it was “hard”.

I`m one of those “so called drivers”…“£7.50 an hour glory boy”,i think you called us in a previous thread.

i take it you won`t be asking for our support, when stobbies move in and kick you all out :bulb:

Thanks Jonny, appreciate it. Not so much Selby that’s the problem, the lack of full time non agency job that’s the problem. I’ve done 2 and a half years on agency, all be it at the same place, but I want a fully employed job.

Totally understand where your coming from mate, there’s not much work around here that doesn’t have an agency involved. Pretty appalling really! Have my interview tomorrow for a proper full time job which I got on an off chance. But haven’t been lucky in any other areas. Hope it’s not of how things are going to be around here in the future :unamused:

Cheers

Fair point but I still wouldn’t say it’s a great deal considering what you have to do to get that 30k you claim they’re on…

He may get 30 grand with overtime but the basic at Tesco Avonmouth was more like £23500 when I was there two years ago, and the start times were ■■■■■■■■■

Speaking as an ex Tesco driver I can tell you this. If they plan just a certain number of drivers, say 10 - 20 and they have a lot of agency drivers the drivers they are going to hire are already sellected from the longest serving agency drivers providing they are any good, they still have to advertise and take as many applicant as they can and it doesn’t matter how good or experienced the outside applicants are only those pre-selected agency drivers will get the possitions.
If however they are having a large employment drive you stand a good chance.

Tesco lads are too stupid to see that, a little bit of wee comes out when I think of Middlewich, Fanny lock, Middleton…

Must be pretty desperate to want to work for such an outfit fella, why not hang fire let others jump in first then look to fill the vacant posts they’ll have left…!?

I’m not desperate at all mate, just had enough of being an agency driver and the [zb] that comes with it. I can earn more working for tesco for less hours, seems a no brainer to me.

Trust me mate it is a no-brainer. I used to pull for them weekends on agency, and that was the easiest and best paid agency work I ever had. Only relief driving for the gritting team in winter paid better bit it did depend on snow and ice :stuck_out_tongue:
