Tesco interview

It looks like what a dog lead clips on to the dogs collar if that helps m8,but bigger

Sorry but it wasn’t a wind up. I am studying for my Class C at the moment, don’t wanna look stupid so thought I would just ask.

My apologies, your dead right to ask, as has been said its a metal clip that generally hangs on a chain and then gets clipped through a hole to stop the release handle moving out after hooking up.

Good luck to you in your training, please don’t be shy to ask any questions in future, I got plenty of help on here when I was doing my training a few years back, all the best

What! So you have got to know about livestock and dogs ?

You need to know what not to put in burgers and ready meals, one other thing that’s worth a mention at all times you must remember it’s not a proper lorry driving job, it far to well paid.

I only did the assessment that was brought in for agencies and to be honest, I had no problem with the driving questions but the first aid stuff would have thrown me if I hadn’t done it in the army. I didn’t have a clue about the livestock stuff but I did wonder why those questions were included. Like most drivers, you will only know what you need to know and wont care about irrelevant information ie sectors within the industry that you have never worked in

The driving assessment wasn’t too brutal. Dog clip first when you hook up and last when you drop the trailer. That was a big one for my assessor and even if the assessment is over and you forget this, he will then revoke the pass. It was a drive round the yard, good side reverse, pull off then blindside onto the same bay (I buggered that bit up due to a distraction) then I did a delivery to coatbridge (which was a blindside and I nailed it) and back to the depot. Its not that bad

Not looking forward to the reversing driving part , not driven an artic since my test, on rigids just now.

There is loads of room so don’t panic about it. Just take your time and do it safely. Besides, they have done plenty of drivers who cant reverse and they must have passed their assessments :smiling_imp:

Reversing did not go well, got the blindside one ok, but the easier on went wrong, problem is i have as he put it ‘rigid head’ not doing the correct turns at the correct time, you get to go back for another attempt, however my work i am only on rigids, any ideas how i can get reversing experience?

pretty sure after doing ot for a day or two it would fall into place.

useally it’s 3 months before you can go back and won’t useally take you without class 1 experience.
what did they have to say about going back.

Thanks, can get access to a drag to practice on but not and artic so just need to hope it all goes well on the day.

Try and get your local training school to give you a couple of hours practice on reversing. Money well spent I would say.

If you’ve got a spare bit of cash, I’d suggest trying to get some reversing practice at a local driving school, you should be able to get through the assessment with a bit of practice

they simply don’t care about the health or safety of their drivers in the least . no shift pattern of any kind .lone working in stores at night . and an attitude from managers I have never experienced in my working life . as a company if you treat people with respect it is nearly always returned . they simply do not give a toss its all about the money going in the till nothing else . everyone should work to live. not live to work . if you don’t like your family go there because you wont see much of them thats about it really .

What’s dog clip?

woof, WOOF, ROUGH :grimacing: at least you’ve ASKED THE QUESTION  the arm clicks in behind the kingpin and when THATS IN PROPERLY there shall be a hole for the dog clip! If it doesn’t fit, it’s NOT IN PROPERLY! :sunglasses:

Turn your torch on and get underneath and check the bar is across the back of the kingpin  IF YOU DON’T KNOW/ UNDERSTAND ASK, ASK AND ASK AGAIN! or ask another DRIVER, who if he’s worth his salt WILL SHOW YOU! :open_mouth: await TNUKCSI FOR CAREER ADVICE! :grimacing: :unamused:
