The theory test is likely to be 100 questions and multi choice covering all sorts of stuff including first aid and livestock carriage (you remember the horse meat scandal ). Pass mark is 85%

They have changed it as far as im aware, less questions which concentrate on more on the driving side of things, rules and regs etc etc…the change was due to drivers getting the basic questions wrong, rules and regs etc etc but they were getting the random questions correct, that must have been how I got through
Op, ill try and help if youve got any other questions, what dc you applying for??
I just noticed its livingston youve applied for, its a multi temp site so you will more than likely have a bit of a mixture, fresh takes priority so if your an early starter thats what you’d probably spend most of your time on. They run about 170 units on that site, we had a trainer from livingston at our dc last week, he’d been there 15 years so cant be all that bad

Got an interview with Tesco, she said could be a nearly 4 hour interview.
Thoery test
Work assessment
Driving assessment
One to one interview
Anyone done an interview with Tesco? What tips could you give.
What kind of questions are in the theory?
The interview is for Livingston, anyone know what it’s like to work at.
I only did the assessment that was brought in for agencies and to be honest, I had no problem with the driving questions but the first aid stuff would have thrown me if I hadn’t done it in the army. I didn’t have a clue about the livestock stuff but I did wonder why those questions were included. Like most drivers, you will only know what you need to know and wont care about irrelevant information ie sectors within the industry that you have never worked in
The driving assessment wasn’t too brutal. Dog clip first when you hook up and last when you drop the trailer. That was a big one for my assessor and even if the assessment is over and you forget this, he will then revoke the pass. It was a drive round the yard, good side reverse, pull off then blindside onto the same bay (I buggered that bit up due to a distraction) then I did a delivery to coatbridge (which was a blindside and I nailed it) and back to the depot. Its not that bad
Tesco is a brilliant company to drive for providing you are ‘on the books’ as you put it, I made the mistake of leaving out of pure boredom but when I look back I realize how stupid I was to quit. The life insurance alone is amazing, then there’s the profit sharing and shares which you get after two years, it was the easiest job I ever had. I worked annual hours starting with a 6 day week, then a 5day week, 4 day week, 3 day week, 1 day week then a week off, all on the same weekly wage, if I worked a day when I was not scheduled, it was time and a half, if I worked a holiday when I was not scheduled it was triple time and a day off in leu. People worry about annual hours but its brilliant, you get so much time off to do the things you want.
Now then ! The bad side is that no matter how many drivers filled in applications when jobs were offered only eth few agency drivers who had been there the longest got the jobs, even if they were bad drivers, so a hundred could fill in those apps but it was just a gesture, they already knew who they were giving the jobs to. For some reason I jumped that line, I was singled out and transferred to Brackmills depot as a full time employee then expected to switch back to MK, I stayed at Brackimills which upset the MK staff.

Not looking forward to the reversing driving part , not driven an artic since my test, on rigids just now.
daffyd:
there’ll be a minimum term for whatever contract they offer you I’d imagine
Says full time on add, but just wondering if thats to get people in the door then get rid of you after christmas.
No, they won’t do that, you will do a 12 week probation, as long as your not smashing up motors and your fleetboard score is goin ok then all will be fine. Fleetboard is nothing to worry about, all will be explained if you start at Tesco.
