Come what’s the gossip, DHL have lost the contract with less than a year in the door. By all accounts staff where loving the DHL way so it must be down to service levels or cost?
DHL pretty much threw the kitchen sink at this last year sending in managers and DDAs from around the country to get it up and running. Using mountains of time, resources, uniform and brand spanking new kit I think this will be a sore pill for DHL to swallow.

I heard about this from an old colleague a few weeks ago. From what he said, whoever had the contract last are going back in as slowly the amount of their stand trailers in both sites has been increasing. We all know who had the contract previously.
Maybe it’s because they’re now part of Culina Group. Certainly seen a few of another part of the Culina Group based in Spalding towing Tesco trailers recently in the same area.

I hope to God it’s not our lot. The thought of supermarket deliveries leaves me cold. Obviously that’s a personal thing as lots of folk love it.
Drove past Scania Grimsby last week. Their yard is full of the smaller cabbed units, all liveried up in Culina. They might be heading for Donny and Goole then??
selby newcomer:
Dunno why they just don’t take it in house.
When Donny was Tesco run the Ts and Cs were very very good 50k was not uncommon and that was why Eddie came in to cut the wage bill, I am lead to believe by guys who worked there.

I’m amazed Tesco just let stobarts just roll into there depots and start doing the work , or did they catch tesco unaware , and by the time they realised what was going on the tris we’re gone
Mind maybe tesco got them back by sending there lorries into backhaul loads out of stobart depots ( that’s ok though isn’t it )
What’s you’re thoughts on xpo,Maratime, dhl , wincanton etc just rolling up & doing tesco work
The strange thing is I did chilled for years , some of those years were driving for stobarts , those regular collections said stobarts were far from the cheapest , but if you needed x2 extra lorries that day , a stand tri you’d get one ( though it did eventually go down hill )
The good thing is stobarts don’t exist anymore , now it’s culina I’m sure as they seem to take work everywhere it will only be seen as a positive !!!
As for the £50,000 , if that’s right , I’ve no doubt it is , then taking into account it must be 15 yrs ago you’d think those tesco drivers would of looked after the job , done a 2 nd run , rung the shop yard bell , not sit there hoping to drag it out long enough to not get a 2 nd load , stop hiding in the bloody ring fence
I never will get the blame everyone else for your own stupidity in loosing a well paid job just for being a bit helpful, but it’s all stobarts fault , never there’s
And the most stupid thing is they were then working for stobarts ( the same company they said they never would ) on agency
But yes it’s was all stobarts fault , nothing to do with Tesco being fed up of the bone idle ■■■■■■■ , them ripping the ■■■■ out of the job
£50000 , t&c up there will the best & they ■■■■■■ it up , no-one else to blame but themselves , but doesn’t fit the narrative does it
Anyway blood pressure is through the roof so I’m going for a lie down !!!

If that’s Estate road I saw them the other week, I remember thinking it looks like Culina is having some new units until I looked at the reg’s newest was 69 and some were older than that. So I assume they were all de-fleeted units going back.
It was Tues the 21st of June when I saw them as I went to Hilton Seafoods and went down estate road to get there past the Scania dealer.

I got told it was Culina/Stobart that was taking it back over,If it turns out to be true what the Hell have DHL done wrong to lose it within 12 months
Trailers with “HGV drivers wanted, immediate start’s” ads for Donny and Goole may have had something to do with it possibly?
Also keep seeing a lot of subbies pulling trailers for them as well which DHL and others seem to like to do quite a lot, sometimes at the expense of not having enough work for their own staff. When I asked why he had so many loads subbed out when we struggled for work for our own drivers half the time I was told we have to sub x amount percent of work out.
Hadn’t heard there being any issues like the KFC fiasco with the Tesco take over.
Eddie Stobart has been awarded a contract by Tesco for transport services at the supermarket giant’s Doncaster and Goole distribution centres, just over a year after it lost the work to DHL.
A Stobart spokesman confirmed that it had won back the contract and said: “Stobart have previously operated the transport services for both sites for over 10 years, before transferring the services to DHL 15 months ago.
“Our teams have a wealth of knowledge of the operations, and we look forward to welcoming back our ex-colleagues and meeting our new colleagues that will be transferring from DHL to Stobart.
“We are proud to be a strategic partner of Tesco.”
Tesco did not immediately respond, but DHL told motortransport.co.uk it had been agreed that its support of its transport operations at the two depots would cease.
A DHL Supply Chain spokeswoman added: “Affected staff have been informed of the situation and will shortly enter into consultation with the company to discuss their options, including transferring to the new provider under TUPE regulations.
“Both Tesco and DHL thank staff for their continued support and their commitment throughout the partnership.”
One driver working on the contract said that the transfer of work had been communicated to staff internally on Tuesday this week.
The driver said: “This is fantastic news and I couldn’t be happier as I am sure things will very soon go back to how they were.”

I believe Culina are keeping all the old lorries now and just getting work done to them and having old liveries peeled off and new ones slapped on. So they’re keeping the lorries for longer
