It had been agreed that it’s support of transport operations would cease.
Now that either means Tesco were unhappy with the service DHL were providing or that Tesco decided the contract was going back to Stobarts and nothing would change that decision even if it wasn’t down to any failures on DHL’s part. Given they have the Irish Tesco still and had the frozen in Daventry before that was taken back on house it all seems rather odd.
I mean Tesco currently is a shell of itself, cutting back on stocking anything in stores these days and that was before all these price hike disputes like Heinz and others. Some of it was down to COVID but that’s now an excuse that every busines uses for anything now along with Brexit.

Dunno why they just don’t take it in house.
When Donny was Tesco run the Ts and Cs were very very good 50k was not uncommon and that was why Eddie came in to cut the wage bill, I am lead to believe by guys who worked there.
Unfortunately the urine extraction by the drivers was far too great to carry on regardless, they cooked the goose
I used to go in there as an agency driver for subbies & Fradley/Hinkley Fleet for trays mostly, but also to help out with deliveries when they were struggling, and it was one of the most soul destroying experiences known to mankind, talk about being obstructive to their fellow workers, they were complete tossers
One round trip up the road, and then spend the rest of the shift tossing it off was their M.O., so it was obvious to anyone with a brain that at some stage someone was going to grasp the nettle
Every gravy train has a siding as my old boss used to say
With the "dispute " with Heinz and now this you would have to say this is a cost cutting exercise nothing more nothing less . No matter what level of service DHL has provided it would appear that Culina / Stobarts have come in with a cheaper bid.
The race is on .

I’m amazed Tesco just let stobarts just roll into there depots and start doing the work , or did they catch tesco unaware , and by the time they realised what was going on the tris we’re gone
Mind maybe tesco got them back by sending there lorries into backhaul loads out of stobart depots ( that’s ok though isn’t it )
What’s you’re thoughts on xpo,Maratime, dhl , wincanton etc just rolling up & doing tesco work
The strange thing is I did chilled for years , some of those years were driving for stobarts , those regular collections said stobarts were far from the cheapest , but if you needed x2 extra lorries that day , a stand tri you’d get one ( though it did eventually go down hill )
The good thing is stobarts don’t exist anymore , now it’s culina I’m sure as they seem to take work everywhere it will only be seen as a positive !!!
As for the £50,000 , if that’s right , I’ve no doubt it is , then taking into account it must be 15 yrs ago you’d think those tesco drivers would of looked after the job , done a 2 nd run , rung the shop yard bell , not sit there hoping to drag it out long enough to not get a 2 nd load , stop hiding in the bloody ring fence
I never will get the blame everyone else for your own stupidity in loosing a well paid job just for being a bit helpful, but it’s all stobarts fault , never there’s
And the most stupid thing is they were then working for stobarts ( the same company they said they never would ) on agency
But yes it’s was all stobarts fault , nothing to do with Tesco being fed up of the bone idle [zb] , them ripping the ■■■■ out of the job
£50000 , t&c up there will the best & they [zb] it up , no-one else to blame but themselves , but doesn’t fit the narrative does it
Anyway blood pressure is through the roof so I’m going for a lie down !!!
So dozy, it appears that you think anyone earning good money with good t&cs sure go to their boss and say reduce my wages and t&cs so that I can carry on working for you, just to be on the safe side.

No. He clearly says that if that they were earning good money with good t&cs then they shouldn’t have ripped the ■■■■ out of the job.
And quite right he is too.
If you are lucky enough to be in a well paid job with good t&cs then work hard and provide good value for it.
Because if you do the things that Dozy described then eventually the job will go ■■■■ up as so many have found before. And you’ll have no one to blame but yourself and your fellow work shy colleagues. (I don’t mean you specifically )
I used to be a agency driver for Tesco at Peterborough think it was 2005-11 and the drivers used to control the managers massively taken the pee. They were paid for 9hrs a day and dragged the first run out then refused to do the 2nd run because they may go over their 9hrs if they get held up.
They would drive at 35mph on A roads and cause a large traffic jam and if another Tesco driver or subby overtake the driver would report them.
The core drivers hated agency, if you
said hello when you walk past they would turn their head away from you and blank you. Just before I left they got some Scots manager in to try and sort it out.
I hated it there, not the work but the core drivers, what a bunch of tossers!!!
By far the cushiest number I’ve done and they’re managing to [zb] that job up too.
Glad I’m out.
Did you ever tramp while pulling one of them?
No-one, I repeat no-one unless they are half-deaf wants to be anywhere near those monsters when it’s bed-time. Horror-show, one lad on our firm saw a fridge driver un-couple, drive around to the rear of his fridge trailer, leaving the noise to blast up to the other wagon drivers on the lay-by!

That’s insanely high wages, but it was before the crash of '08 so maybe not super crazy.
Didn’t / Don’t you have to unload your own trailer if you are on for Tescos? Sometimes with nightmare access areas?

I started as a new driver on agency doing Sunday work in February, out of Tesco Magor and can’t fault it so far. You have to unload your trailer but it’s not hard graft and there’s no time pressure. The store staff have been really helpful everywhere I’ve been. Out of the approx. 30 or so stores I have delivered to so far, I’d say access areas have been fine apart from 1 or 2 but they would be fine for an experienced reverser.
There have also been 2 pay rises since I’ve been there, so they seem to be trying to keep their drivers happy!

Elsa lad your post makes for interesting reading ,especially considering you posted this previously on Nov 20 2021.
I did it once at Tesco’s, dropped a empty trailer. A driver came over for a chat as I was unhitching and I never did my final check before I pulled away. No damage got the Trailer back up straight away but by the time I got into the office I had already been reported by a driver after some brownie points. Banned for life driving at any Tesco site Since then I refused to shop there…that will teach them

Yeah, how it worked out it was the best thing i ever did…got me out of the rut of staying there, I moved on to a far better job.
Tesco’s job itself was ok, it was the atmosphere at the place. The drivers were very militant and the management were very weak, we all want decent T&C’s but there is taking the pee and they had it down to a fine art. I think if it wasn’t the fact that Tesco’s got such bad press when Stobart’s took over Doncaster they would have been in at Peterborough, it needed someone in there to sort it out. As i said they brought a scottish feller in as i parted company and he was having a good go standing up to the drivers.
I left (sacked} 12 years ago so things hopefully have changed, i do notice they tend to drive a bit faster If the job i am doing come to a end, would i go back {if they have me}? possibly, as i said the job its self was ok but the drivers which was there i wouldn’t pee on them if they were on fire.
my lad works at the frozen/chilled at Tesco’s Avonmouth very happy with the job moneys good all the drivers are Tesco employee’s his words are wish i moved here yrs ago very happy with the job.
