Sorry no I dont have anymore the ones I have posted taken at butlers quarry after tarmac bought them out.I see you are from leics area do you drive for tarmac,if you do what lorry do you have, the lorry you mention was it one you drove.Regards paul.
I drive for MQP cliffe hill they used to be Tarmac but joined up with ARC/Hanson to create MQP in the late 90’s.
My dad drove the leyland when i was a kid but he never took any photos of it he packed up in 98 after 20 years.but ive only been doing it for 12th months
One to keep you going…This i think was Geoff Elliott’s lorry (Company driver from Cliffe Hill), posing at the new Ampthill Coated Plant , Bedfordshire that opened in 1988 (I was worked there in its early years) , plant was on Station Road Industrial Estate, and closed down in about 2004, mainly due to the restrictions it had on working nights or weekends…
What sort of power does the LF have? Are they light, I guess you save quite bit of heft over a CF?
I don’t know how they make a 4x2 pay at the moment. I know they pay 14t guaranteed on the black but being paid what you carry on the dry makes that kind of work a waste of time I would have thought?

140 to 300 efficient horses
The LF Series offers a wide choice of power ratings to suit every application in the most efficient way. The 4.5 litre four cylinder PACCAR FR engine is available with outputs of 140 hp, 160 hp, 185 hp or 207 hp and torque levels of 550 Nm, 600 Nm, 700 Nm and 760 Nm respectively. The 6.7 litre six cylinder PACCAR GR engine offers maximum outputs of 220 hp, 250 hp, 285 hp or 300 hp with corresponding torque figures of 850 Nm, 950 Nm, 1,020 Nm or 1,100 Nm. Importantly, the maximum available torque is available from as low as 1,200 rpm, resulting in greater flexibility and less gear shifting.
The four wheelers this way do OK on coated or dry materials,as access to a lot of jobs aren’t any good for anything bigger.
Cheers Dave.

No 14 ton payment in this area Hammer, just what you cart. I cannot think of any 4x2’s around here nowadays, once the premium went then so did the trucks!
it’s not all tippers you know…lets hope the name lives on after the JV anouncment with LaFarge is confirmed / or may be not allowed on Tuesday this week (May 1st is D-Day)

Let’s hope I don’t go through!!!
Ivecos what were they thinking! Iveco only missed out on the worst truck thanks to hino lol
Nice pictures of the artics ! Thanks.
As some will know, the JV with Lafarge was given the go ahead today, on condition that a number of quarries / topmix / cement plants are sold.
The topmix list makes depressing reading with some 109 plants if memory serves me correct, also Tarmac’s share in the 50:50 jv with Hanson at MQP Ltd, thus Cliffe Hill Quarry, Wednesbury and Ettingshall Coated Plants. Cavenham Coated Plant, Holme Hall Quarry (as Paul mentioned above) and Coxhoe Quarry too. I may have missed a few…

Could affect some of the mixer boys then. Thanks for the info.
Cheers Dave.
Side on pic shown here. Looks a hell of an impact suggesting a large speed differential between the two vehicles. As its a Tar*ac contractor he will have a forward-facging camera fitted to capture the whole thing in glorious technicolour. shropshirestar.com/news/2012 … 2/#overlay
