tanker companies

Lawrence Dunbar:
Can anyone remember Cawthorn & Sinclair from Birtley, have two ERF Tankers Proctor & Gambles livery, powered by RR. Fuel Injetion Petrol Engines, the drivers loved them, very quiet & I would imagine pretty fast, to say the least.Regards Larry

There were two at S&R’s at Rothwell. Proctor and Gambles colours, (pale yellow), I THINK they were on a regular Hull -Trafford Park job, straight 8 RR petrol engines. They used to go up Standedge (before the M62 was born), loaded like it wasn’t there, everybody else was plodding uphill, they were forever looking to overtake, no wonder the drivers liked them. Fuel consumption was “not good”. :open_mouth:

I wish I did!

Backward Progress maybe. I used to work out of Gentenaar in Moerdijk and Pernis and they were a great company, the drivers liked us, they were great on a weekend and the lads in the office were the best planners I have worked with.

To me it is like PC World buying Microsoft :stuck_out_tongue:

A couple of nice Scanias on bitumen product

This Leyland Constructor used to carry battery acid apparently, 1 regular delivery was to a London Transport East London bus garage, where anything bigger couldn’t access.

Needs a wash, but a lovely British wagon!

Classic Soutton’s look from the 70s.

I borrowed this one from another thread as it was one of our drivers who later bought the DAF 3600. Obviously not in its natural environment but Mick did keep a nice lorry.

Wincanton contract motor.

Amoco (American Oil Company) pulled out of this country many years ago.

Cheers Phil

Here are a few photo’s of my time at ISOTANK as a driver then as a sub contractor until november 2008 when the work started to go down as the resection started.

Nice photo Chris.
Those Mercury artics ran into Staveley Chemicals, from Coleshill I think - at least Coleshill was written on the wagon somewhere - they were double-shifted.Odd times an Atki with a tandem axled tank would come in but mostly the Mercurys.

Im not sure but i think i posted this before but it does look nice and brings back some great times i had with my dad. Think the photo was taken in Rouen waiting to reload
