Yeh I have a feeling that was an odd one out Paul must have got for nowt.

I don’t know either but when Sykes closed the garage and contracted it out to Volvo and DAF one of the fitters went to drive for them a young blonde haired lad and I can’t recall his name but he was a good lad and will be in his 50s now as he was 10 to 15 years younger than me so they would be west Yorkshire or had a yard there.

I used to work for R RANKIN of BLAYDON I was on the ICI-BURMAH petrol contract; then it changed to P&O. After 5 years the contract went to LINFOX. Then after another 5 years it went back to P&O. LINFOX still had the FINA job but once that ended they vanished, don’t know what happened to these firms but I am still on fuel tankers 35years on.
I will try to download photos of a couple of tankers I drove back in the 1970s with GLOBE PETROLEUM. I was based at Grangemouth in Scotland and still run out of ross chemicals (nustar).
I have also posted a photo of the tanker my son drives for ■■■■■■ PACIFIC in New Zealand.

Not British I know, but a lot of us have driven for Dutch firms, someone might like a look! Thats my Air Products tanker in the background, photo taken outside Sheerness Steel Works where I had just delivered a load of Liquid Oxygen on a Sunday in the early 90s.

I went to school with the daughters of SAMAS owners They were twins and thats where the name came from Samantha and Machaela,they had an office at the top of young street which later became an estate agents

samas was taken over by brit euro 3 of there drivers and lad out of the office came along with the deal barry i think was the office bods name .
