We pulled a tanker on a contract for Woodbrow bulk liquids in the late eighties, to Spain , double cabbed me and the first missus , and did some work out of a place nr Liverpool for them too. Roger was a hard man to get paid by , but was on the whole quite fair on the rate as I remember.
Shame but I have no pics at all of those days.

Dont think I am wrong, but possible with my memory, it was the old mans business and i only drove when home on leave in those days . He did a fair bit to Spain , often contract from a crowd in Bristol and we filled in when he wanted a break or Mum moaned to much about his never being home.

Yers a nice modern one, pulled by a highly-polished Globetrotter and snapped at North Rode Vintage Show today.

Wray, Sanderson & Co. Ltd., was incorporated in 1907, continuing the seed crushing business in Hull of Charles Creasey Wray and Frank Bernard Sanderson. The company operated as oil extractors, manufacturers of animal feedstuffs and refined oils. Wray, Sanderson & Co. took over the Hull General Warehousing and Transport Co., in 1917, Calders Margarine Co., in 1918 and Sowerby & Co. Ltd., Grimsby also in 1918. In 1919 75% of Wray, Sanderson & Co.'s shares and also the total share capital of Sowerby & Co., were bought by the recently formed United Premier Oil & Cake Co. Wray, Sanderson & Co., sold its holdings in Universal Oil and the Hull General Warehousing Co., to U.P.O.C.C. in 1924. In 1929 Wray, Sanderson & Co., entered into a management agreement with U.P.O.C.C. In 1946 it was decided that for the most advantageous conduct of the business the Premier Oil Extracting Mills and Wray Sanderson & Co., should be operated as one concern under the name of Premier Oil and Cake Mills Ltd., therefore, there was a voluntary winding up of Wray, Sanderson & Co. Wray, Sanderson & Co. (1947) Ltd., was registered as a private company in 1947 to run the old Wray, Sanderson & Co. Ltd.
And the rest became history when Croda took over the Isis Mills and Oak Road.
Peerless Refining (Pura Foods) also used to run the shortening tanks out of Liverpool but these were owned by A S Jones.
Cheers Wheel nut, always good to get some history behind the photos, another one from the same sector then and another AS Jones shortening tank
Just found these 2 pics in another box! i know i’ve seen them about in the past, but anyone on here recognise or know Who/what/where/when about them?
Regards Chris
