They had a yard and tankwash at Birstall where they used to do the Hazchem (ADR) courses in the 1980s - I think they got swallowed up by the Linkman group.

Alan Walker

Yes I remember Alan - he was a good teacher and made the course interesting.

Alan is occasionally on this site just keeping an eye on things.

Who mentioned Hillhouse and Thornton. I did make a slight ■■■■ up one week. I had delivered to Hillhouse and it was a dedicated tank. I took it back to Hull and was given one for ICI Thornton.

Well Hillhouse is near Fleetwood and Thornton is at the back of Stanlow   Thornton Cleveleys isn’t

Don’t get me onto Cargo Fleet Chemicals, Seal Stands Storage and Tees Storage, never mind Billingham, Middlesborough and Wilton. Was it Tees Storage Seal Sands or Tees Storage Middlesborough. Aah. My brain hurts

Aye it were me Malc,ICI Hillhouse/Fleetwood/Thornton and sometimes known as Cleveleys.
But not half as confusing as ICI Storage Cargo Fleet,Cargo Fleet Chemicals (what a shi*hole)ICI North Tees,Seal Sands Storage and Tees Storage, plus Dorman Long Chemicals,BSC South Bank,BSC Cleveland Works,BSC Redcar, number three Polypropylene Plant Wilton and whatever else bloody plant they had up the road in Billingham. If you were a stranger in Wilton they gave you a map, think some of the roads were named after London streets?

Here`s a bit of nostalga for you Tankermen ( and others , too ).

This photograph and script appeared in a Michelin Tyre News magazine , dated February/March 1967. :sunglasses:
I have been clearing the loft , and I came across a couple of pages of Michelin mags, of which were too
interesting to throw away - again. :unamused:

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Was Philmac down near Pak-Tank at Eastham Pete? I can’t remember it’s that long ago.I do recall Meade King and Robinson in that area with green tankers.I used to go into Pak-Tank regular for Toluene in the 70s.
