They had a yard and tankwash at Birstall where they used to do the Hazchem (ADR) courses in the 1980s - I think they got swallowed up by the Linkman group.
they actually became part of the Calor group and then in early 90’s sold to TDG Linkman tankers.
Ive taken a few photos of a site that was once a thriving chemical works. It is now raised to the ground ,can anyone recognise any of the following pics and put a name to them ,some are very obscure ...... Chris Webb is exempt from this as ive already told him where it is,here`s the first few

Hi ramone is the 1st set of pics the old ICI plant at Heysham by any chance.
Where is Chris by the way? not seen him on for a few days.
Still around John, reminiscing over Ramones photos…
The road in the last picture is the entrance to the site and i was told the site was either side of the road ,its now a new housing estate , .Through the gatehouse is a large new industrial estate to 1 side and a landfill site to the other .I have only been there once when the site was in its original form but i was around 6 years old and cant remember any of it .It would be interesting to have seen how it looked then
Well its the old ICI Fleetwood site John i go there every day now to the landfill site
It was a big and busy site in the 70s,and was known as either ICI Fleetwood,ICI Thornton or ICI Hillhouse. I liked it because it was a bit more laid back than some of the other ICI sites. Some of the security men ran digs as well and would give you a card when you went on the bridge.
Hard to believe it’s all gone, like a lot of others including Staveley Chemicals and BP Baglan Bay.

No,never used the pub, went in on early sunday mornings with unleaded paraffin from Canvey Island then away to wherever the lard heads sent me. Occasionally delivered benzene from Staveley as well, good drop.
Hi All looking at that ariel pic i would never have guessed that it was ici Fleetwood or Burnhall as it was called. The pub is i think the Burn Naze spent a few hours in there in the 70s, could be a bit of a rum old place, good old days, cheers Ted.
