So by printing my exact words and exactly what I believe they ‘stitched me up’? I know you and Mr Happy struggle with comprehension but I did previously point out I’m perfectly happy with the article and accept Remoaner is just playing to an audience. So was that the sole way they stitched me up? By calling me a name? I’m not as emotionally delicate as you lads, being called a Remoaner doesn’t upset me. And upsetting Daily Express readers is a positive despite what the other muppet believes.
Well, look, the current post-Brexit pay rises being achieved by HGV drivers is a bit of a “hot topic” at the moment, there was even a 30 minute feature on the Jeremy Vine show devoted to it just today. Yet the Daily Express has managed to find someone so blinkered and brainwashed by pro-eu propaganda that he has spent a substantial amount of time penning an article in which he hankers for a return to the days when we had to compete with Romanians and Bulgarians in selling our labour.
Given that the Daily Express is predominantly read by exactly the same people who were impacted by mass immigration from post-Communist economies, you were bound to come across as a bit of a twerp. You would have done better submitting this article to the Guardian where it would have been far more well received.
You should celebrate the pay rises being achieved by truck drivers, not wailing and gnashing your teeth about them.
Logic + lefties will never work, Harry. They aren’t wired up the same. You may as well talk to the nearest brick wall for what good it will do trying to explain this extremely simple stuff to them. Thinking is hard.

Jesus Christ have you given up reading entirely? I covered EXACTLY the points you made in a post a long way back. I know RobK likes ignoring the inconvenient but you’re surprising me choosing to die on this strange hill.
Why have admin have allowed this thread to develop like this is shocking. A new member reading this would be put off posting on trucknet for life!
My tuppence worth, luke I think you’re way off the mark on just how strongly your average driver feels about the current pay/driver shortages and how it’s benefiting them in their pocket. On a wider issue: yes food goes up, energy prices go up, everything goes up in price and that pay increase soon gets eroded. I get it?! Brexit on the whole isn’t working at the moment, if it ever will is anyone’s guess. But for your average driver at the moment it is working fantastically.
This is a good thing we are all experiencing right now about being valued and being recognised for just how important our roles are, it’s great feeling. But this article feels a bit wrong to me, you feel like a traffic clerk who hate drivers and can’t see them getting an early finish doing our ■■■■ in on daily basis with this article.
The personal comments on this thread are a disgrace and I hope you get back on the road soon switch! Get some of this good money being dished out!

Says the man who launched into rants across three pages because he didn’t see my reply two down from his own on page one. Typical RobK, the man who not only hasn’t got the balls to use his real name but doesnt even have balls to use his previous anonymous one either. Bravo chap. Bravo

Only speak for myself, not anyone else. Thank you though.

I think I’m done here now. TruckNet members can read your viewpoint and read my viewpoint and make their own minds up.

How was I stitched up exactly? Don’t understand this belief you and Mr Happy have.
Was the word Remoaner in the headline not a bit of a giveaway?
Says the paper that is obviously quite happy about Boris keeping us in the single transport market.
As opposed to calling for the introduction of quota permits and banning third country operations and no east euros actually ‘had’ to go home.
If wages are going up in that environment there is a hidden agenda behind it and I think that I’ve identified it.
The extra cash is a all about making drivers do two jobs for the wage cost of 1 and a half or less in a degenerating transport regime that increasingly needs warehouse staff more than it needs truck driven miles.
Not paying for time spent on POA and putting waiting/sleeping/tele watching drivers to work in warehouses is the obvious solution. All for an extra few quid an hour.

You clearly didn’t read it first time so no idea why I think you will now but it was a reply to you and I live in hope

Ironically under Boris’ idea of ‘BREXIT’ we’re still in the situation of the status quo in fact moreso the EE’s have actually consolidated their ■■■■■■■■■■ of the single European transport market.
The same European transport market that Boris has kept us in.
If the EE’s are going home it’s because they’ve rightly seen something which you’ve obviously missed.
With the exception of those who’ve bought into the warehouse ‘and’ wheels agenda including those EE’s who’ve chosen to stay, which is obviously the future of the UK ‘road’ transport ( logistics ) industry.
Warehousing operations will be the dominant feature and labour requirement in that not the need for and cost of truck drivers to be sitting around for hours on POA.
Around 20 quid an hour for warehouse staff who can/will drive trucks as needed is a great deal… for the employers.

Yes me too. Just one massive own goal for Vernon. Probably regretting some life choices right now but hey-ho. I’m surprised the thread lasted as long as it has. Lefty “liberal” types love cancel culture and usually go crying to the mods at the first sign of any opposing viewpoints to have them shut down.
Time to move on.

I love your child like excitement and over exaggerated sense of how important this all is. It’s really charming really. Suppose that’s what happens when Trucknet is your entire life. Poor sweet Rob.
‘Legendary in years to come’ I feel a bit bad making fun of your clearly totally empty life. But not that bad. A story by a lorry driver on the Express and a post where two people got confused on Trucknet. Two media backwaters at best. In a world where headline news is forgotten in moments. Thanks for the compliment though. You clearly have a much higher opinion of my importance than I do myself so thanks for that. You and Harry made total prats of yourself making up what I said and instead of bowing out gracefully, well Harry tried, you kept digging.
Never change sweet Rob. Your naivety is endearing.

Says the man who got them to remove a thread of his after it didn’t go his way and the nasty bad men were mean to him. Poor little Rob. Not something I’ve ever done. I’m also not on my second (at least) anonymous account trying to distance myself from all the nonsense I’ve spouted over the years, that’s your lame tactic. I’m on my one account, all my posts remain, and everyone knows my name and face. You simply haven’t got the balls.
Also made me remember something interesting. I’ve had very little grief online over the years but every now and again some anonymous internet hardman will act all tough and attack me. But in 13 years no one has EVER said a single word to my face. And on at least 3 occasions I’ve known for a fact they are in the same waiting room. People like RobK who haven’t got the balls to put their name or their face to their opinions in real life wouldn’t say boo to a goose and simply haven’t got the balls to say it to our face. Our as is a common theme amongst others who put themselves out there.
Luke you was earning £33,000 for tramping around Europe?
That’s some pretty poor money. I was earning like 10k+ more than that driving for supermarkets a year ago.
One lorry driver, Aaron Leventhal, previously revealed freelance drivers are now being offered up to £30-an-hour to drive wagons for supermarkets.
This equates to an annual salary of more than £62,000 - assuming someone works an eight-hour day, five days a week.
Can someone show me where they are offering this please? You know for curiosity sake… I think this number is complete ■■■■■■■■. Firstly, what supermarket on agency actually lets you do an 8 hour day? Secondly the £30+ an hour rate is usually the overtime rate after doing 8 hours.
I would very much like to do 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for £62k a year.
Edit I googled Aaron Levanthal. dailymail.co.uk/news/articl … risis.html
He is earning 40k a year.
Some good research this journalist did.
So the headline
Remoaning HGV driver brands Brexit ‘huge mistake’ despite it adding up to £29K to salary
How can you be pro lower wages to re-join a Communist state?
No dodging questions like a politician.
I see my questions got totally ignored. Not surprised!
Awwwww poor diddums feeling left out?
Says me. You can tell by the fact that I wrote it and posted it. It’s what’s commonly called an opinion as none of us can see into the future but merely guess. Anything else you need to know? The colour of grass or what day Christmas is?
