Kerb-Side MOTORS. -
Two from Sheffield - the Wicker Arches, with train, trams and buses in evidence, and Shoreham Street with the corner of the Rutland arms pub (left), Hatfields Standard Triumph garage on the right, and the rear of Kennings garage and showrooms in the distance. A nice group of old motors as well.
Another photo of t’Wicker in Sheffield, catenary is installed on ex GC/LNER route to Manchester via Woodhead.Locomotive is ex LMS, just left Victoria Station and looks like a Jubilee Class which would probably take the train to Huddersfield and Bradford via Penistone.
Two photos of Chesterfield town centre, the A61.A road I used many times from Sheffield to Birmingham before M1 was opened.

That looks like a Nottinghamshire registration on the Marina and possibly on the Broxtowe Estate where I was born and grew up
And yet another photo of t’Wicker in Sheffield. No sign of overhead catenary on Woodhead line so before 1954.Loco is a BR Class B1 61399 and has just left Victoria Station en route for Woodhead. These locos were designed by Thompson who succeeded Gresley at the LNER in 1942 and when railways were nationalized in 1948 British Railways carried on building them, this particular one was built in 1952.
Right I’ll tek me anorak off now.
Would I be correct in say thats a Triumph Mayflower razor edge car.

I would say so. I never liked the looks of those. I always thought of origami works when I looked at them! All those creases…

Yes, they were built twixt about 1949 and 1953 (along with the bigger Renown) IIRC.
Hi Chris, Your picture of Wicker Arch brought back memories from long ago. Whilst I am not too familiar with
that area of Sheffield, I recognised it straight away. On the wall in the kitchen are three wall plaques of trams
containing paintings by transport artist Eric Bottomley, which I have had for about 40 years. They are Sheffield,
Glasgow, and Leeds. For a long time, I have been trying to locate one showing a tram and traffic passing under
the Liverpool Overhead Railway near the Pier Head, but so far, nothing.
Cheers, Ray.

that brings back memories, a new clutch on a Saturday morning, been there, seen it, done it.
These days IF I could get down and under I sure as hell couldn’t get back up.
