Do you know what the stopping distance was in 1946 from 50mph?
It was exactly the same as it is in 2011
We haven’t progressed far with modern vehicles and F1 Engineering have we?
Well apart from using Metric measurements!

Shurely shome mistake.
Stopping distances must be shorter these days because with the greater number of vehicles on the road in 2011 you will hit another vehicle in a far shorter distance, effectively stopping you.
anyone noticed that the slower the traffic the further some drivers keep from the vehicle in front
was doing 10mph the other day and the car in front kept about a 3 artic length gap between him and the vehicle in front
then you get heavy rain and low visibilty and they keep half a car lengths distance between them and the vehicle in front
I suppose 50mph in 1946 was a bit of wishful thinking for most drivers
Top speed on a road test was 57mph

Yep, can’t fathom that one out, other than they are obviously on the retarded side of normal.
Try going past one of those and pulling into their gap, they soon close up then, especially if you do it on their inside.

STOPPING DISTANCES ARE ONLY A GUIDE…:–)
And when you get it wrong
This is in no way meant to offend those who like to convoy, not wear seatbelts or watch what their doing.
And the driver did get out ‘eventually’.

yes, and 37 illegal immigrants. and he’s driven all the way from China without a break.
I think Top Gear did an experiment on this and determined that the sports car stopped the quickest out of all the different types of vehicles used
Only the ford anglia stopped at the distances stated
Thing about it is, however few and far between there still is vehicles of that era on the road even if it is only an anual show or rally; and the fact of the matter is with the amount of morons out there if they updated the stopping distances guide to modern tyres/brakes/abs and then some ■■■■ causes a smash in his Allegro by travelling to close to the modern car in front a judge would probably find whoever wrote the guidelines at fault
Vehicle intelligence systems have improved since 1946 but has the drivers?
