Evening All

Had 2 drops taken off me  for my run tomorrow , should make it up to the stockyard << collecting in thorne wednesday morning ,never stayed here before (stop at jun 29 m1) most tuesdays , so any info on this place would be appreciated , thanks in advance

It’d be a lot better if it wasn’t full of lorries and drivers.

Very good truckstop food is nice decent showers etc . Nice bar Quite a few locals using the bar so at least it’s not all story’s of when I was in the sas etc. Have karaoke etc in there which can be lively and restraint opens early about half 5 for breakfast.

Anychance you know prices etc for overnite stay ■■?

IMHO the Stockyard sets the standard that all other truckstops in the UK should aspire too… However given that the Stockyard is not much more that a decent pub, with showers and plenty of parking that probabaly says more about the low standards of truck parking in the UK than anything else…
The Stockyard is doing very little wrong… the issue is no-one is doing anything better, and they could

It’s not that dear a tenner or so

You should try Orwell crossing as the standard there knocks spots off the stockyard by a mile IMO.

Was in there friday night.
Paid £15.50, that was £10.50 parking + Carvery, help yourself to veg mash and gravy ! Was a good feed. Showers good and clean.

I always thought the Routemaster set the standard, until the standard dropped to such a level that my dog would not eat in there. The idea was great, the biggest problem was that all the parking was done on a contract basis and you could struggle to get in unless you were there in the afternoon. So the Dooley became the place of choice.

I like the Stockyard for the simple reason it does everything you need, you can have a snack at the bar, wine with your meal or sit and read a book in the entrance when karaoke is on. Just keeping an eye out for a young Granny

If it was local stuff, we had Wembley cafe, Swifts and Normans, anything further we had Mayphil and Woodside, no wonder I never lost that puppyfat :stuck_out_tongue:

Thursday night is the infamous “grab a granny” night at the stockyard. You`ll be suprised how many drivers find themselves waking up the next morning next to a cab mutt
On the plus side there are several local pubs in the area that cater for food etc inc a JD Weatherspoons (The queens) thats opening today

Yep, I can safely say this is quite true, 2 of our drivers stayed there the week before last and got the attentions of a mother and daughter that are regulars in there, they didn’t give much away except for the fact they will be going back whenever they can

I think I know the mother and daughter you are talking about. If it is whoever got the mum is braver than me

1of them did tell me the mother was proper ropey looking so I am assuming it wasnt him that got hold of her lol. The 2 of them were strolling around in thigh high boots and little skirts apparently, the mother and daughter that is

Got to be the same pair. They used the daughter as a honey trap on me. Had to escape when she went to the bog. Like an idiot I had mentioned what lorry I was driving and she was prowling the parking area as I hid behind the curtains. Thankfully there was quite a few white mans in there that night.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth:   I better let the driver I know that he’s got a bit of competition lol

I don’t do distance work anymore thank god.
But if it’s the same one think old man steptoe with long blonde hair lol
