Stobbart drops a clanger at sainsburys

Stobbart pulls into waltham point, reports to the office, and tells them hes here to collect a shop delivery ( as stobbie is now doing sainsbos shop work )
So they tell him what bay to go onto for loading…until the management realises that hes got a tesco` trailer behind him…so swiftly tells the driver to get off the bay, and go forth and multiply…tail between the legs scenario…made me laugh though.

Funny how the suppliers can work together [UB + Nestle] to save the planet, but, the retailers can`t ■■?.

Its the bloody retailers who keep going on about how GREEN they are, more green with envy IMO.

i’d have loved to have seen that.

but what sort of driver must he have been?
surely when they told him to go to sainsburys, he would have said “are you sure about that? i’ve got a tesco trailer on”.

but he’s probably a “not my job, i’m only paid from the neck down” type.

Just as well it was a Stobbart truck, and not a Stobart truck

used to have the same issues when pulling Grattan trailer and collecting from Next.

I had to swap a Unit over at Marlbrook and drove past the gatehouse and up the hill. When I came back the guard was laughing at me, "whats up drive, I should get your eyes tested, did you not see the factory?

I snapped back at him, yes, did you not see the trailer? I had dropped the Nestle trailer in the layby. Somehow I don’t think I would be welcome in a Cadbury factory

When the jocks used to bring trailers down for gray and adams, quite rightly they’d load the frigo’s south to double their money :bulb: When I worked at Safeway at Welwyn Garden they wouldn’t let one in as he had a brand spanking new Sainsbury’s reefer on. Red faced he had to go to a local haulier and sub the load out  :exclamation:

So when did eddie get their foot in the door at sainsburys? I thought that was dhl patch, i get confused to who does what now i probably would have took the trailer aswell

What’s the problem with that? Why refuse to tip him?

Some years ago I went to Britvic at Magna Park on a Sunday to do a changeover.

Sure enough the trailer was parked up loaded and ready for collection.

Just one problem, it was on a Stobart trailer and I was working for SOL. The paperwork in the back showed haulier as SOL.

As usual being a Sunday there was no one to get advice from, nor tranship the load.

I made a decision and took it back to Thetford, watching the mirrors all the way along the A14 just in case someone had reported it stolen.

A couple times my mob got to provide traction for Sainsburys. I would go pick up a sainsburys reefer from the EK RDC and tip it at somewhere like Waltham Abbey. In the paperwork was a sheet to show police or anyone else that I had permission to pull their trailer

It was the flat capped and ironed hi viz brigade at the gate the caused the problem. They called the depot manager and because it was just before Morrissons bought us out so they didn’t want the chance of another driver taking a picture of it on site. A totally stupid reason made by jobsworths who can’t make a decision unless it’s written in a handbook :exclamation:

Innovate take over Corby chilled.
Innovate have trailers reliveried in Bernard Matthews logos
Bird flu hits Bernard Matthews factory
All trailers grounded until panic over
First destination for trailer previously stranded at Larkhall?
Grampian Country Foods
Much ■■■■■■ and Jeffing
Mischief…Surely not…only spare in the yard apparently
But how we laughed

I’m sure one of our esteemed members posted here not so many weeks back about being asked to do something very similar. On seeing the trailer and realising the problem, he had walked back in the office & invited the TC outside to look at his allocated trailer.

Quality!!

It’s fair enough really, the shoppers would imagine that Sains were buying food of T as they couldn’t handle it themselves. Not surprised he got rejected, what a thicko.

Or maybe good thinking? Perhaps couldn’t be arsed with a shop delivery so picked up a rival supermarkets trl? Kind of thing I would do to worm my way out of doing it.

oops, massive fail on the planners behalf but i suppose the driver could have mentioned it just in case the planner wasnt aware…?

we do the transport for 2 of the 3 sugar refiners in australia, and have some trailers in the livery of one of them, we cant even send those trailers to brisbane on the offchance the only load we can get back is with the other sugar company

The other week i worked for NFT, I drove an asda unit with a sainsburys trailer collecting a load from Clitheroe for marks and spencer. And they wanted me to deliver it!!!.
When i reminded them about asda unit and JS trailer they thought better not try. So changed trailers at NFT Alfreton, Even they looked twice when i pulled in the yard.!!!

when i was on for the Muppet Road Show we used to pick up at McVites Glasgow and and take the Biscuits down to Asby Del A Zouche (sp) in a Odbins Trailer… and we would also pick up carpets from Kiddminster in the same tralers… never once did i carry alcohol in them trailers
